Gentlemen,I found this one on some obscure photo site. It might have jump take off capability, looking at the accompanying graphics.Regards,MitchImage Insert: 48.86
Thrust line is too high,H.S. is wrong colour...........oops,sorry,don't know what came over me.[]Any stats mitch?? Interesting look'n donk, could be some serios horses under the bonnet.
Birdy,Irkut Corporation, Russian Military Aircraft Company, is now branching out and producing all sorts of stuff that flys, or goes into something that flys. The gyro is a vertical takeoff, vertical landing craft and has been flown successfully since April 02. I think this is correct so far. Couldn't find anything about specs, a lot of these searches result in dead ends. Some observations....I agree the colour is all wrong......There appears to be negative angle of incidence on the HS attached at keel and would provide a neg angle of attack in Sraight & Level flight. I believe it is a three seater. And although the thrustline appears high, depending on the concentration of mass, ie fuel tanks and engine weight hidden by the engine cowling, the mast fairing and the weight of mast system and Rotor head and rotors, the thrust line to Vertcal CofG, may not be all that high. I am only putting forward my own opinion here, I am not a rocket scientist.I'd reckon everything in this craft would be Russian, this company has hugh resources at its disposal and have gone public with shares on the stock exchange. I found an open frame three seater also, which is Russian, not sure if it was the early prototype set up or not.Cheers BirdyImage Insert: 58.38
I apologize for last message. I just try splain you that the Irkut Gyroplane is equipped with a Subaru EJ 40T and that isn't possible make a jumping take off with a rotor head like this.I apologize for my english too.
Mitch,That last photo of yours - what a wild looking machine. I would have a lot of questions for the designer if i could contact him. I presume that it is a three seater.Vallendor,Dont apologise for your english - It is better than Birdy's (except when he slips now and again)That head appears to be a stunning exercise in irrelevant creativity. Nice workmanship though. It appears to have only cyclic pitch control and not collective and we already have the simplest and most practical method of cyclic pitch control yet invented.Tim McClure
G'Day Tim,It is called The HUNTER. I believe another Russian product, not positive. I have down loaded three video clips one with skiis. Yes, it is three seats and is flown one up and three up. All this stuff can be downloaded via Chapter34 FTP Server, well worthwhile. Mitch.www.thebutterfly.info
Tim,Went back and had a good look at videos of the Hunter. Flown 'one up' she appears to fly somewhat nose High. Lot of weight in rear and looking at rotor head/disc appears the RTV is well forward of the CofG. Flown 'three up' she appears to fly more straight and level. The extra bodies balance out the mass relationship. Designed to fly three up and looks better when fully loaded.I didn't notice it from the pic until looking at vids again, front end looks like has a mono shock system and the bottom section of front keel drops down after takeoff, looks quite bizzare in flight. Rear suspension is interesting also has a soft/spungy type system. Both front and rear suspensions look to take a fair bit of a hammering without any undue bounce or nasties.Tim I can send you a disc with Monarch G Force Landing Gear and multiple vids from O/Seas, send me an email with an address and will forward. Also Steven Kozneed from US is putting DVD with gyro's on it I could send copy of that also when it arrives.Best Regards,Mitch www.thebutterfly.info
Well Done Phil,Must confess I've been a bit busy lately and have not been keeping up with the bevy of prototypes and possible commercial production run gyros. I appreciate you posting the links for us all. I think Hoody asked Tim about possible approval for three seat here in OZ, didn't seem like it would happen real soon, if at all. You seen the video footage yet? Cheers,Mitchwww.thebutterflyllc.com
He can have the gyro, [looks like a heavy tank anyway]I'll take the passenger.Ignorance is bliss............but only till you realise you were. You can always get the answer you want, if you ask enough experts.
So,What is the 'wing' behind the mast above the passenger?Did anyone pick up that the mast is able to tilt forward?oo, is that a joystick between her legs - you're too late birdy!Good find Greg / Phil.
