John,What was the shape of the vanes?

In the diagram they look a bit like arrows, except they appear to have a weight on the nose instead of an arrow head, and with some sort of 'feather' on the tail. Obviously they would be balanced around their pivot. At these speeds flutter wouldn't be a problem.The vanes are all linked together so they give a sort of average.Are you going to try it Nick?JohnJohn EvansThink logically and do things well, think laterally and do things better.

The Dutch discovered that the wind went down about 3 or 4 degrees due to ground friction. All their windmalls had slightly angled heads to allow for this.I heard the heads are angled back to keep the blade flexing clear of the tower.
