All you Blokes have been very supportive and I appreciate it, makes looking at my gyro a little easier to bare. Though I'm still giving myself an uppercut each day for having a major brain fart last Saturday.Spoke to Gary from Bert Flood Rotax. Seems the B Box does not have the rubber donut thingy and is likely more susceptible to imparting a twist into the crank. We have a couple of guys down here, over George Town way who can help me on this. Hopefully the wooden prop and sodden earth have saved the crank. Time will tell.Cheers,Mitch.www.thebutterflyllc.com

Mitch they are pretty tough the cranks i mean, i've stopped my prop twice in the past with the ground and it never done any thing to the crank, and it was hard, very hard ground.Remember -- A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...BUT a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn...that was fun!"Mark

Timber props, was sent away to get a rebuild on the engine but nothing shifted/cracked, by all means get it checked i'm not to say not too, but i'm just saying not to be bracing yourself for trouble, but nothing is for sure..Remember -- A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...BUT a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn...that was fun!"Mark

Greg,Stop beating yourself up here will you! Your experience with it will only make you a better pilot, and some of us who read what you published, if anyone who hasn't read this does so they will get an idea of what rotor flap is, so they'll know when to abort, and your message is quite clear and plain about this, we should be and are thankful to you for your account of the incident. Look forward to those photos you posted flying over North Tassie, expend your energy on that.Cheers,Nick.

Here here NickI totally agree.[^] Mitch go out to the shed and start puttin her back together. You can send the motor in and have most of the repairs done while your waiting for it to get back.[8D] If theres some thing I can help you with please just say so.[] I have most of the repairs done on my little gyro probly finish next week,[8D]I'll be waiting on the prop for a month[] so that may give me some time to do a few changes I have in mind.[]Cheers and best regardsSonnyIntelligence is not a privilege,it is a gift and should be used for the good of mankind.

Greg.Sorry to see your prized machine in this way.As many have said before, be greatfull as it could have been worst. An old man once told me "Flying is not complex, we are complex. Flying should be simple, and the simple flying is the right flying". Good Luck !!!!!!Regards Sam.

Greg.I am in the last throws of finishing rebuilding my machine after a failure of a shock absorber on the main strut. After a cartwheel, a handstand and a double pike on landing I picked up the machine took it to the shed, dismantled all the broken bits and put it back together again. Today my wife said "gee it looks like it used to"When I finish paying for all the bits, Ill fly it again. There is no point beating yourself up over an accident.....thats what wives are for.good luck with replacing the broken bits and tell us how it flies.Bye the way, in my experience, cranks are hard, props are soft.Mark.

G'Day All,Flew into Sydney Wednesday, getting 'hitched' tomorrow afternoon (Sunday) and flying back to Tassie mid next week. Will try and catch up on all the news then. In brief, the US trip was great, met my good Mate Sonny Jeffers.Mark H, sorry to hear about your rebuild Marcus. I have everything I need to go ahead with my rebuild now, including the X-tra dollars saved due to being a "NON-SMOKER" and a 'girl' who would rather see me flyin than cryin, very supportive after dishing out the 'beating'.Cheers,Mitch.www.thebutterflyllc.com
