No, I actually was talking about Bob practising euthanasis. We use to have a saying in racing, "$2 helmet for a $2 head, $1000 helmet for a $1000 head". Bob doesn't seem to appreciate his head as much as I do mine. JUST GET SOME LESSONS! 600 miles is just up the road.Ken

"$2 helmet for a $2 head, "I gota remember that one.Ignorance is bliss............but only till you realise you were. You can always get the answer you want, if you ask enough experts.

Most people who have read my posts on both here and on the yank forum know I try to address a person's postion and not the person. In this case Bob is a perfect example of why gyro's have a bad reputation for safety. I will not try to talk Bob out of what he is so obviously determined to do. I will be sad for his friends, family and the gyro community when the most probable outcome of this project is realized.I,personally would not attempt to enter a sport, if I could not afford to do so safely. Unfortunately it is not my call. Bob does have the ability, I won't even call it the right, to put his life at risk and the rest of us will have to handle the consequences. What I can do and urge all others who believe in safety first, as I do, is to refuse to participate. Bob if you want to kill yourself I cannot stop you but, I will not offer you any encouragement and hope no one else will. You say you have no choice. We always have choices. Until its too late. This may seem harsh to some but, I am sooo tired and dismayed by all of the unnecessary deaths in this sport that I love so well.Brad KingN6372KMad Max II LTC

Its dificult not to get pulled into the "try and talk some common sense into Bob. " I tried to keep out but I thought I could help make the difference but I reckon a D9 Cat couldnt budge Bob from his plans so I'm out!!As a personal example, I went scuba diving with a few blokes one day, they helped me get into the gear, turned on the valve and said jump in ! I later did the full course and now hold a license to open water dive and I learnt very quickly, that on that dive I did without any training, I had risked my life had the slightest thing gone wrong and had there been an accident, it would have put scuba diving into a bad light. At the time I thought nothing of the danger as I DIDNT realize what the dangers were but by doing the course I learnt all the dangers that could pop up and importantly, how to cope if something unexpected had happened. I now enjoy scuba diving immensly, doing it safely and responsibly.Brian
