I have permanent carby heat on Nick and lose no more than 50 revs which I think is a fair tradeoff given that carby ice has taken me out of the sky more than once before I installed the current system.PeteBairnsdale,Vic.

Nich, One more thing came to mind as well. Some of these engines will start hitting valves if the timing belt jumps a cog.I dont know off hand if that applies to this one but thought it was worth a mention[]Flying the wrong side up in Canada

Birdy,Give us a break, just humouring the bloke, he probably hasn't seen it and he did cover his bets that it might not have one.. I'm most usually thankful for any good advice, even from a mug like me. His advice is correct if you happen to have a subi with a timing belt, so I'd consider it on that basis... cause I do have one in the shed.Speaking of which, [advice I mean, not mugs] I had a discussion with Jeff Henly Smith, he advised I should ditch the subi for a rotax, what do you reckon? Is he a wise man or what? He also said the exhaust valve could have been sticky from being idle for so long, and that could have bought about the bending of the push rod, I'd think he may be right on this issue seeing as the machine was idle for two extended periods of time, being before I bought it and then while I was fitting the redrive.Whilst I'd love to change to a Rotax, I don't have the funds and don't invisage the same for some time being available, so I'll probably have to stick to the poor mans 912. There could be some more tales like this one yet.Cheers,Nick.Nicholas TomlinAlarmist - www.alarmist.com.au - we scare for you

You can pick them up at the wreckers with reasonable kms on them. I used to have a couple wreckers who would keep an eye out for suitably crashed vehicles for me.Aussie Paul.[]www.firebirdgyros.com
