When Part 149 comes into effect (been in the pipeline for near 10years) you will have a choice of registering your Gyroplane/Ultralight with the CASA.You will also have an option of getting your "Licence" with them, doing BFR"s having thier TA"s sign off your machine and all the other things ASRA volunteers do now.All this and more for a very reasonable $180 (or whatever) an hour office time and god knows what per hour "field" time.I"m sure CASA people are waiting in anticipation for the first person to come along and try this way. ;D

It seems there was another "Alternate" Nationals at a private property over Easter. I believe around 12 gyro"s attended.,and no I"m not talking about Natfly at Naramine. Its a bit unfortunate that you have people unwilling to drive or fly a few hours to the ASRA Nats to support the organization that works for their right to fly in the first place.Do these flyers want to be part of ASRA or would they rather go the "Parallel Path" with CASA that will be available to them soon?Yet, you have people that will drive or fly for 30 or more hours return just to be there and support ASRA and the local club organizing it. Am I missing something here? The US trip. What we need here is the cost of a 40 foot container from Brisbane to Los Angeles and return. That is just for a start. The US portion of transport can be worked out later.Do you have anymore info on this parallel path asra/casa?

I share your disappointment there Sam, Although I applaud the Gyro manufacturers who attended the RAAus event at Narromine and showed the ultralight pilots how do do it right.

Gee,Not much gets past old mate at Pooncarie, How are you Brian?Talking to a couple of people, there was a very few gyros mixed up with 400 or so other ultralights, but, at least there was a representation of the Gyro fraternity. From all accounts, quite well received as well.I also belive, that on the sunday pilots breifing, the pilot of the Gyro who was taking punters for a flight, came in for special mention. He was commended by the controller for his abilities and safe flying in the circuit, no mean feat given the number of aircraft in the air at one time and the huge differences of speed of the different types.A real positive for gyros in general,Mark.Since being up closer to the pointy end of the ship, you get to hear of bits and pieces along the way . I"m really good Mark, enjoying life, not working to hard and having fun .Good to hear the report, good pr is great stuff, need more of it!! Do you know who the pilot doing rides is?
