Tony, and others.........part 149 is progressing.................slowly.There have been delays after delays, through no fault of us [ asra ] there is / are, items that are cropping up relating to all recreational flyers that then have to be addressed, one by one, through the corridors of Canberra.Believe me, this project has been HUGE, the forfeiture of private times by some members / appointees, to achieve 149 is to be commended. As soon as we get the final "draft proposal" in hand, you and all members will be included in the discussion that will take place. Hope this reply allays your concerns.

in regards to part 149. i would never be able to understand it all and would require asra board to advise what they would recomend voted. the same as any company board would to there share holders. or has that vote already happened. it seems to be taking all that long i"m confused ! any one care to fill me in.

Disco,The classic for me is the $230 I had to pay for a renewal of my annual ASIC clearance and the $230 annual fee I pay for my CASA medical to be processed (the CASA fee is additional to the fee from the DAME). The plus side I dont have to pay an annual registration fee(one off fees only) for my RV4 or Lonestar but the gyro"s and ultralight cost each year. When I had the final inspection for the Cert of Airworthiness for the RV4 it was $350. I have never charged that as an ASRA TA!Like others I cant complain about CASA quality, only the time they take to action somethings and the cost they charge compared to ASRA or RAAus.My 10c worth,Adrian

Birdy, don"t hold back.Disco, I don"t think there will ever be any benefit going that way, its just legally they need to give you an option if you don"t want to be in an association. I doubt you will get any more rights or freedoms than are available to you now.Three/four place machines? nothing to stop you doing that now, VH registered experimental of course. The RV 10 fixed wing for example.Mitch, CASA were aiming for this year but your guess is as good as mine.

Murray,I think that this will be the best thing to happen for ASRA - maybe now some of the whingers may realise what is the $ value that ASRA and its volunteers do for them as well as how quickly we react to their requests compared to a big GOVT agency. My 10c worth ($100 if I was wearing a CASA hat),Adrian
