Sorry for getting back on the subject!!!But that stub looks like it has been reduced without a radius.Am I wrong???.No slashmiester, thou art correct - bad machining practice for aircraft parts.. It is interesting to see the dark line on the broken off face, oddly enough about a mm deep.. now what was I saying before about the effect of machining operations? Maybe it should have been cut with an R=5mm tip and post treated. You can always pack any bearings off the collar if you need to support them as such. What is also interesting is the flogged out hole on the outboard end of the stub mounting - how did this come about?Cheers,Nick.BTW - how is your hand these days? I thought for a moment today I"d gone one up on you but no, no joy there... stuck an 8mm booker rod through my hand from the bottom up, it followed under the skin of my palm and stopped about 80mm in.. f"ing youch! Pulled it out and steri-stripped it - went to the doctors - the bloke was totally amazed I didn"t damage anything - still typing with it now. How did it happen? Being amazingly stupid of course.. putting something in the truck and used a little too much force to shove something in - oops, ouch, !@#$%^&*((())) you dik-ed!! [self cursing all the way]. All he did was wipe it with stuff that stings and steri stripped it again - no stitches.

Ozy,The axle was made from a grade of aluminium not recommended for the purpose, and it was not radiussed as you suggest.Regards,Waddles.
