  • Hey Mitch!

I very much like the look of this front fork arrangement. Is this the fork that Murray made for Allan? I was also wondering if you had the specs on the spring (dimensions and rating in lb/inch if you can). Ok, also where you got it.Cheers!LloydImage Insert: 75.56

Yes thats the one I gave Alan.It was going to go on my next two seat but in the interests of not seeing Alan grumpy all easter I had to re think my priorities. I'm also working on a 200 litre tank for the butterfly.M Barker

Do you think 200 litres is going to be enough for Allan? -snigger-We really shouldn't be so mean to him. After all, its not really his fault. He is just not used to filling up his own aircraft!Nice job on the gear Murray.Cheers!Lloyd

G'Day Lloyd,Murray's work and creative design innovations are top shelf, just like the gyros he builds. I'm glad I got to meet you at Cooma Lloyd, hope to see you at the next. I'll find out about the springs for you, ex Larry. We hope to run this front fork setup on both Butterfly and Monarch here in Australia/New Zealand.Lloyd if that is a high resolution pic of the front strut could you email it to me please. rocksfly@dodo.com.auCheers Mate.Mitch.Hi Murray,Trying to sort out Daj's front end set-up, need one of yours and discussion regarding use on the GFLG , whether we need to go two or three springs ect. Would then discuss same with Larry and get some feed back about what we are doing. I'll ring you tonight or tommorrow night. That's a nice pic Lloyd shot. Cheers,Mitchwww.thebutterflyllc.com

Can't be too hard on Alan,I guess when your used to dealing in "Tonne's" of fuel you get a bit confused with litre's.And a 747 will run on diesel believe it or not.Mitch,That type of front fork has been around for a while so can't take any credit for design,we just make them a bit stronger. That one is Mig'ed but we usually Tig.I wouldnt be puting to many springs on,one top and one bottom would do.M Barker

Hey Lloyd,The secret that Murray is hiding is the fact that the front strut actually holds 5 litres of fuel. He has also assisted me with a conversion that will allow the tubular frame to carry another 50 litres, estimated at his time. All the holes in the mast make that unsuitable, but we're working on it. The plumbing is a bit challenging, but all is possible. His theory is that the reserves or last used fuel will be in the frame thus strengthening the whole issue, just in case the there is another rollover. Also, it will be disguised such that sticky-beaks will not realise that the actual capacity is more than the 36 litres allowed in the CAO.Are you deserting??????Regards,Waddles.
