Ah! just seen this posting. Loosing spark on two plugs? My problem was the timing belt jumped a tooth on crankshaft pulley. It always had spark on all cylinders though. There is basically only two double ended coils 1 and 2 - 3 and 4. If you loose 3 and 4 spark then it seems you"ve lost half signal to the igniter. The ECU sends the signal and recieves it from the crank or cam sensor. But I guess you know all that. If I come up with a brainwave I"ll jump back on.

Gidday All,Dunno where Bryce is at the moment, but I tried to help with the problem. All the electronic components have been changed at least twice. Computer 3 times and brand new sensors tried. I"ve checked the timing belt as has the Soob mechanic. Looks good to both of us.It appeared at one stage that the sparks were very weak until the starter switch was released when the final spark was huge. So, crook battery suspected. Replace, no change. On the basis of the above, it seems to me that there is a loss in the loom or in the many relays that are fitted behind the dash. No wiring diagram of course, so no idea what anything is unless one traces individual wires. I think an after market computer system is the only certain way to go in the short term.Waddles

Hi GuysIm actually at the hangar now. Went for a quick spin in yours Al to get my "air fix", hope thats ok... ;DMad Muz & Tony, I just checked the timing again and Im now 95% (dont wanna get too cocky) sure it is correct. It is hard to see with the cab on but I even counted the teeth by the book and it looks good. Also checked the earths again. The battery is earthed directly to the block. Deano, I cant get the revs that high just on the starter. I gave Rob P a call and he said he has had a few problems with the relay that controls the power to the ecu, etc. Changed it with a new one, no good. Buzz, there only 3 cables going into the coil plug. Keep them coming guys...

My boss during my auto sparky apprenticeship always said "diagnosis is 90% of the job" Buying parts at a random guess is expensive. I paid $250 for a crank sensor (which is a fine coil of wire) only to find the old one was ok. In my 44 yrs. in the trade I found most tricky faults were simple things like a dirty connection. A bad motor to body earth always causes chaos. There should not be a relay involved in this fault if one coil is still firing.
