I hate it when you wake up at sparrows fart with a really, really good/great idea, then go back to sleep and wake up later and cant remember what the idea was! :Keep a note pad (paper one) on the bedside table now

Hey Chopper, yeah i was talking to Bryce on the phone and I think its loosing a voltage around the ignition system/coils, just going on a guess. I will take my old faithful fluke meter and oscilloscope tools and a deep cycle battery contact cleaners etc I"m hoping we won"t need the CRO. Its like trying to take your workshop to site for all contingencies but i recon we"ll get it, there"s some optimism. Bryce mentioned he gets spark as soon as he lets go of the start key and i recon the starter motor"s heavy current loading is pulling the voltage down on the ignition for some reason we won"t know until we have a sniff around with the meter. Seems strange too that it ran OK until parked in hanger then never started again lets hope the ECU isn"t in limp mode that"s why we want to have a good look at it before Bryce buys a new buggery box. There"s just so many possibilities we just gotta eliminate one at a time.

Sometimes no spark when cranking until you let the key off crank is a dodgy ignition? Check first the ignition feed stays hot while it is cranking?

Intersting Blake how things happen. Going back a few months ago I coudnt get my pump started [ 240 Volt down at the dam] tried plugging in a drill that I knew was working, nothing

Yeah Chopper, for some reason ants love power points. I have had ants in the shed fill a lot of power points with crap the tiny little buggers, And for some reason they like silicon too as they will eventually chew through that too, and that,s a lot of chewing but they get thru it eventually leaving a white powder. When I had a electric hot water heater it stopped working and upon investigation i found they had filled the thermostat with crap Magiver hat on and i carefully disassembled the thermostat cleaned it out reassembled it and good as gold. I think i had to do that two or three times over the years until the tags on the thermostat eventually broke off and got a new one off my mate. Then it failed and that was after i sealed the cover with silicon. I fixed the problem when i got solar hot water. It would interesting to see if ants filled your cct breaker with crap too. Although i have had two in my career just fail but very rare event. Really strange stuff happens in electronic too. One example i always remember I repaired a video player and it was a good brand or model in its day (SHARP). The service done on it you knew it wasn"t coming back as it was a reliable machine. Well surprise it was back within a week or two Indian customer. OK so back on the bench checked every thing done in previous OK. This time the microprocessor was insane no logic at all. WTF i though well that"s bad luck so replaced the microprocessor STILL THE SAME.

Yeah Tony I was told once "you can tell an Indian is lying when their lips start moving" Well to be fair to the Indians many customers from all nationalities tried it on, it just doesn"t help when your trying to fix stuff. It leads you off the path well for a short time in most cases anyway as circuits and mechanisms don"t lie. The toast placed in the loading mechanism along with every thing else. Lightning or dropped unit-cracked cct board or reverse polarity, fluid spills like pot plants on top of televisions. I even had one feller put his video in the fridge to get it to work I could go on forever.Mike.
