Hi All,HISTORYAbout October last year I went for an uneventful local area flight, returned and parked the gyro in the hangar. I came back a month later and the EJ22 wouldn"t start, it has done over 400 hours. The starter motor eventually burnt out trying to start it so I replaced it. First thoughts were that it was flooding as there was fuel coming out of the exhaust. On the advice of the local Subaru dealer, the temp sensor was replaced. Upon further inspection it was found there was no spark on cylinders 3 and 4, 1 and 2 are ok.FAULT FINDINGOne at a time I have replaced or tested the plugs, leads, coil, ignitor (I tried a couple of these), ECU and the crank and cam angle sensors from the local wrecker. I have done continuity checks on all the wiring and Voltage checks on all pins at the ECU, all good. The timing has been checked. I have had the local Subaru mechanic look at it and plug his diagnostic computer into it with no luck. The only code we could get from it was the cam angle sensor (I think) which we replaced. Following the troubleshooting guide leads to the ignitor which is why I tried a couple of them. All the Caboolture Gyro experts have also had a bit of a poke around it with no luck. WHAT NOW...My next step is to bite the bullet and purchase a new ECU and wiring loom so I thought I would get the word out here quickly before I proceed in case somebody has seen something like this before. Any and all suggestions or advice will be appreciated. Thanks,Bryce

Thanks for your input everyone.Buzz, the reason I haven"t really looked into air is that I know for a fact that I don"t have spark on 3 and 4.Tony and Gleeso, thanks for referring me to Max"s thread, I just read it from start to finish. Timing is ok.Do you have a spare one for me Aggro?Don"t think I have the tin bit Deano, mine is an EJ22.From Max"s thread I noted some talk about the MAF sensor. Could it somehow cause a loss of spark?

I would be checking everything mechanical before spending bulk money on a new computer.... if you got a code from the cam angle sensor, it might not have failed, maybe it was telling you that the cam is out of place? I would definitely check the valve timing is perfect first thing, then check all earths are connected to the battery, not just the frame (or frame is well earthed to battery)

I never solved mine problem but you could probably prove that it"s the same as mine my cranking it over and maybe safely getting the revs over 1800 - 2000 which is where mine went back to 4 cylinders.I think that there was some weird problem with the length of wire from computer to engine or some other weird thing which may have been resinating electrically or something and frigging up the soob computer.
