  • EGO gauge on 2strokes

Well got round to testing gauge set up on 582 rotax last week it had an ivo prop & pulled 6100rpm with 1100 egt's no breaking down but EGO gauge showed more to lean side [was flickering 110deg out of 270deg]so I adjusted mixture by lifting needle one clip position ran it up again got 7000rpm and egt's @ 1000this may have saved a costly blow up Butch

OK, sounds interesting. Can I try on my Hirth F30E EFI engine? It would be interesting to see whether this gauge can be used in my workshop when setting up engines.

That is exactly what I use it for it is an invaluable diagnostic toolI have taped a large bulldog clip to the gauge for securing it & made a harness to conect to the battery & sensorSo where do I send yours toButch

G'Day Butch,Not sure I understand fully. If you are getting 7000rpm static dont you run the risk of pulling high top end rpms when in the air??Cheers,Mitch.www.thebutterflyllc.com

Great Butch, sounds like a helpful piece of gear. I don't quite understand an increase of 900 rpm with just lifting the needles one notch. The needles have very little, if any effect, at wide open throttle on those carbs. I thought that the needles were for the mid range, and the main jet was for max throttle. What am I missing here?Aussie Paul. []www.firebirdgyros.com

First Greg on this gyro the ivo prop was bent forwards & a bit soft[stuffed]Paul the needle is still located in the resepter at full throttle so lifting it will allow more fuel through the correct fix is to now enlarge main jet and re lower needle thanks for your interest Butch

I have never experienced that amount of rpm increase, with one needle slot changed, in a couple of thousand 2 stroke hours.Bugger, I thought I knew everything!!!!![^] Obviously not!!![]Cheers.Aussie paul.[]www.firebirdgyros.com

They now come std with my 100hp subaru motors & since doing this I haven"t had a problem with damaged motors caused by fuel starve/lean mixtures. or anything else Butch S.
