  • New Glasses

I remember Bones posting some time ago about a student having problems flaring out etc and then getting glasses and the problem was rectified, well, Rosie loves to do the "checking" thing regularly....like a visit to the doc and getting the maculars checked and while it wasnt necessary for long range, my short range wasnt as flash as it should be so the eye man asked if I wanted glasses ...dumb question

And from a lad that has posted on this before, it will take near on two years to get fully used to them. Word of warning only get your eyes re checked when you have trouble in seeing normal writting in 12 font print. There are eye checkers that will try to convince you to have them checked every two years, only as they want your moola. Cheers Des Garvin

Cheers Des GarvinThe Medical community as a whole recommends having your eyes checked every 2 years for several reasons not the least of which is to ensure you have adequate vision to let you loose on the road and in the skies let alone the silly little things like preventing debilitating things like blindness through Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Cataracts or a whole host of other conditions.. Unfortunately it is a little too late after the fact to say I wish I had kept an eye on that - after all if you are going to lose one of your senses which one is going to have the biggest impact on your lifestyle- Your sight of course.Yes I am an Optometrist .As for the missed approach yes it affects everyone to some degree- any prescription lens has a degree of magnification and subsequently distortion so when we see familiar items in a different shape our brain interprets the item to be closer or further away than it really is or even twisted.

Peter, Thank you for your input here, now my question is why does it take some people a longer than 1 to 2 months to get used to glasses change and what could the other issues be? just wanting to understand the possible issues there.Cheers Des Garvin.
