  • Windy Experience !!!

Flew about 3 hours out of Barwon Heads Vic on Sunday. Great flying exept for the bloody smokey conditions from all the Vic fires we are having here.Started off with a hot 20 knot northly, then came the 15knot sea breeze, so as I joined the circuit I flew into a 20 knot hot northley wind, then turned final into a cool 15 knot southley sea breeze. Anyway the fun came later, as the front came through. Blowing 30-40 knots from the south. Was lots of fun, with 3m ground rolls, followed by true vertical climbs, and fantastic true vertical decents down to the ground. Rotor management, machine attitude, and power settings were critical on touch down and take off, being extremelly sensetive due to strong winds.Even managed a 10 knot (via GPS) backwards flight down the runway. The feedback I got later was even the local pilots watching were impressed. All in all lots of fun
