Guys,Remember the important thing is power to weight and not just horsepower. The EA82 weighs significantly more but I agree in turbo form its still pretty good.I used to run a EA81 Turbo with boost limited to 8 PSI at 5100rpm and 5PSI 4200 to 5000. The power to weight is great 125hp for 105kg. The engine has 600+hrs and still going strong.Adrian

Thanks for the info about the EA81. I actually have another EA81 sitting in my shed with a turbo on it and I keep thinking about it. My engine is brand new and was built with low compression to give good reliability. Don"t want to ruin it by putting a turbo on but would love a few extra horsepower.

Sam,Max RPM 5100Cruise RPM depends on Temp and how fast I wanted to go -50kts 420055kts 4600Fuel burn 14 to 18l per hour depending on winds ( not FI, I ran a "blow through" carbi much lighter!)Compression ratio 7:1 and keep the average boost below 5psi otherwise it will be a short life eng!Adrian

The RPM is very typical of Subaru engines, isnt it. You cant complain about your motor Adrian, given its 600 hours old and still going. Thanks Regards SamL.........
