  • Cooma Nationals Easter 2005

Hi everyone and particularly the people organising the Cooma Nationals.I would like to know the accomodation and facilities availible for people who fly some distance to the event. I usually have my sleeping bag etc but no tent. If I get there I would like to know what will be availible for people like me.Thanks. Aussie paul.[]www.firebirdgyros.com

Does anyone know if Mr Bird Esq will be defending his gyro-god status? If he isn't, he's probably just giving all of you slack tarts another year to learn how to fly accurately.[That said, telf dons his flame-proof suit and goes into hiding somewhere near Bond Springs......]

G'Day Telf,Birdy gave me 'strict instructions' to not bend the Butterfly prior to Cooma. (I'd be one of those slack tarts if I'd been around the pattern). It is my understanding that Birdy will compete and will most likely do so flying a Butterfly. I'm looking forward to meeting all who attend.Regards,Mitch.www.thebutterfly.info

Hi Paul,We intend to support anyone flying in with a minimum of their own gear. You'll be able to bunk down in the clubhouse. Preminum unleaded will be available on site. If you cannot get oil or additives from other ASRA members, there will be be many Snowy River Aviators happy to drive you into town. It would be preferable for you to bring your own sleeping bag.The contact officer is Stan Rucinski -sruinsk@bigpond.net.auJumpingJackFlash

Birdy,It just became rather obvious that you and the good constable wiped everyone's collective butts last year in such fine fashion that 'gyro god' doesn't seem too brash. Lets face it, it was a bloody white-wash......telf

Birdy,Not too hard hopefully.. I can appreciate a feral in a feral, but a feral in a butterfly? Just remember it has a horizontal stab birdman, that way you might not park it 'in' the hanger, but just outside of it.I think I christened the birdman as one of the 'gods of gyro land', tis my fault.Cheers,Nick.

Cooma is pretty high I think, about 3400'. Roadrunner territory for those who are marginal. Might turn some 2 seaters into singles too. Maybe someone could verify this. Ken P.s. strip is very long so may be o.k.

Is that 3000 odd feet AMSL, then factor in density, altitude etc????if that is the case ,it will certainly make some pilots spectators.[V] Alice sorted a few out like that. Hope I'm wrong.[?]RDC

Usually, at these events, some people love taking on a particular task and do it well year after year. Please let us know so we don't press gang the wrong person.Warning, Attention, Danger: the airport is at 3106ft elevation. This affects the performance of most machines. Snowy Mountains Airport is a Regional Airport. It will still be an active airport. We have applied to have it downgraded to a CTAF for the event. Check NOTAMs. Undisciplined flying will not be tolerated as it will affect us all. No dogs may be brought onto the airport and please ask us about unleashing dogs in the camping area - this is sheep country.Fuel: Premium unleaded petrol and Avgas will be available, no additives or oil.Photography: Our official photographer will be producing a CD of the event. Driving: The main contribution to safety is in planning your trip. Avoid driving for long hours into the night. Count the police cars around Goulburn, be doing 60 at the speed signs at Bombala. ~o0o~JumpingJackFlash
