Been doing a bit of researching on rotaxs and why they are so slow to warm the oil up to 50C etc. Even after fitting a thermostat nothing changes in regard to the time it takes in getting the engine to 50C, the thermostat only comes into play after that which is a big help cause you dont have to have the oil cooler taped up in cold weather. The culprit is the engine, it pumps the oil around fairly slowly and the oil comes out of a large steel container sitting out in the breeze [ in a gyro] and it has to warm up 3 litres of oil so there you go !! :
I have spent all week either on the loader clearing fence lines or on the grader and I got thinking about this oil warming problem & I got thinking why hasnt someone designed a cover for the oil tank that is like an electric blanket where you cold plug it into the power or into say a 12 volt battery, [ not the gyros battery] ?? and it would have a thermostat so that you could set it for say 20 or 30 C.Does anyone know if there is a electric blanket available or is there an opening o make squilions of
