Update, hot off the press so to speak !!Mechanic arrived today, took a little figuring out the method Cat use on the late 17 K series to allow the operator to select gears when clutch pedal was depressed & then when clutch was let out, to lock the gears from coming out under no load. Arty [ mechanic] had not worked on a Cat with this set up so we pulled a couple of plates off and got a good look into the gearbox and was able to figure out exactly how this piston type thing connected to the clutch shaft actually worked, even better was while it was all pulled apart, we awere able to accurately measure the distance needed to set this thing up sp it actually worked correctly. AND it turned out that the book distance and what this thing needed were not the same figure. It has been pulled apart before and I"m guessing a non genuine replacement part has been used.Anyway, the good news is that the grader now has all its gears working just fine, the new clutch plates are most certainly working a treat as we took the grader for a run putting it under heavy load /changing gears /hi lo etc to make sure all was well ! Passed with flying colours, just need to put the grader to work and run in the clutch plates so Arty can do a check adjustment and then put in the circle reverse gears & clutches & then hopefully, pretty much all has been done to get her up to scratch !!!!! While the grader has been out of action it has given me the oppertunity to fit a radio & speakers to her so now we have music to break the boredom of grading. Got to say I"m really happy, no interference and you can hear the music quite clearly even under working revs and the air con working....essential !!

Correct on both counts Des! Air con has a pressurizer complete with its own Donadlson air cleaner to keep me dust free!!

No chance of missing out on dust ingestion out here Des cause the sheep & goat yards are powder dry, you can have the sprinklers on for a couple of days before adn it only takes a couple of houts with stock moving around & you would reckon you never had a sprinkler going ???

Got all the covers back on today & all bolted down....hooray !!! Going to put some LED work lights on in case I need it for any bush fires. Couple out the back and a couple each side pointing down towards the blade should be the go. I have a Viper worklight and its awsome but at $150 it should be but I guess after spending millios on this grader, whats a few more $$$$ going to hurt. :
