You're not going to believe this Russel, but in your inner ear you do have the equivalent of a 'rock on a string', it's called an otolith.[ three syllables ]. However the signals from this become confused in 'unusual attitudes' - don't know what they are? Have a look at the 'Nationals 2005' thread.
