      I think that appearance is an artefact caused by the camera, it's almost certainly a focal plane shutter. This is a variable width slit which is moved across the film at varying speeds resulting in the effect you see here. So there, the camera can lie!John EvansThink logically and do things well, think laterally and do things better.

        Dgital cameras, although very quick, scan top to bottom left to right. This causes the illusion shown here.L.Magner

          Illusions.These shadow lines on the instrument panel had me baffled for ages.It is the shadow of the rotors shown up by my cheapie camera.If I had been in power line country it would have been scary.Mark.Image Insert: 12.68

            i've seen a photo of a hughes 300 flaring to land and the tips of the rotors were up above the hub by about 500 mm but never twisted like thatMark
