Yeah, I've heard the same thing but have yet to experience it Russ. I started on 26 ft Goodwins, went to 26 ft Ricks [which gave lots more lift] then went to 27 ft Ricks [which gave lots more lift again]...then tried a set of 28 ft Revolution which gave even more lift but rough as guts. Got a set of Revolution 27 ft 6 in which perform okay but I reckon a set of 28 ft 6 or a set of 29's wouldnt hurt. I reckon you get used to having more lift pretty quickly and I'm finding the ride in rough weather is actually better on the bigger rotors which is against what I thought would be the case. You will probably know when you are over rotored cause you wont be able to throw those blades up anymore cause they are too heavy !!!I remember so well the first takeoff with the 27 ft Ricks and was so thrilled with the performance that I reckoned I was set like a jelly forever but inside a couple of days, I wasnt even noticing the "big" difference in lift !I know it would be a shock to the system to throw on a set of 26 ft rotors now !!You never know how far you can go, till you get there !

The go is Russ is that I havent heard any thing about Rick starting up business again BUT, Jeff Henley Smith's rotors are supposed to be pretty good. I havent tried a set but unless something else comes along, they will be the next set of rotors I will buy. There's nothing wrong with Patroneys Russ, actually, they have lots of plusses BUT they are prone to damage on the leading edge and need continuing maintenance to keep them shipshape. I have done a few more hours on the Patroneys and I have to say that I'm liking them better all the time BUT, I wouldnt try cutting scrub with them.I saw the photo of your gyro Russ and I reckon 28's or even 29's would be okay.Just my opinion!BrianYou never know how far you can go, till you get there !

Rics rotors were a product of Vortec International in the states. They extruded the blades under licence of Fleck (something) who were the original makers. Ric experienced a lot of problems with Vortech who did not have a very good reputation with doing business with. When Rick ceased manufacturing, I thought it would be an idea to try myself. I ordered a set which I still have but they are not assembled. I did a feasibility study and received quite a bit of interest so I ordered 10 sets. These never came, then I heard the Vortech partnership had broken up and instead I received an invitation to purchase the rights to manufacture them. I gave the whole idea away quite pissed off I was stuffed around. It was about then that Jeff went into production with his extruded sets. If you want a set of Vortech (Fleck 8H12) blades, you can contact Ben Showers aviation in the states. Vortech site is http://www.vortechinternational.com/
