  • Moving to Brisbane...

Hi,I currently live in Auckland, but am seriously contemplating a move to Brisbane for professional reasons. I'm currently building both a Sonex fixed wing (two seater, all aluminium) aircraft AND a two-seater fully enclosed gyro powered by a Renesis engine. Naturally, I would like to settle relatively close to an airstrip from which to fly my aircraft. Where is your airfield situated? In addition, if someone could give me the names and locations of some other airfields in the Brisbane area, I'd be very grateful, since it would help me in my search for a suitable suburb in which to settle.Kind regards,Duncan

Duncan,SEQGC have training weekends at an airfield (Watts Bridge)in the Brisbane Valley which is about 1.75 to 2.0 hours by road from Brisbane. Some of the Club members use the airfield at Caboolture to hangar their gyro and fly to Watts Bridge (20-40 mins flight). Caboolture is only about 30 mins travelling from Brisbane. Brisbane has 2 airfields for commercial aviation. One near the mouth of the Brisbane River which is an International airport and the second for lighter GA aircraft is Archerfield in the western suburbs.I hope this is of some assistanceBruce
