What material is it....

Can anyone tell from the photos what material it is?One bloke told me stainless steel, but magnets don"t stick to it; so I figured he was guessing.So I gather gather it"s either Chromealloy or 6061 Aluminium.

touch it with a grinder, alu wont throw any sparks.

Aluminium is approx one third the weight of 4130 steel, so you should be able to tell the difference quite easy.

Magnets will stick to 4130Magnets will generally not stick to Stainless (some grades slightly)Magnets will not stick to Aluminium

Well I decided to check the log book of the gyro and there it was....6061 T6Thanks for your help guys, all I need to do now is get hold of Rosco...Keith
