The newer 912 and 914"s have a slipper clutch in the gearbox which uses the same oil supply as the engine, anti friction additive will adversly affect the opperation of this clutch. The clutch is there to prevent damage to the crank in the event of a prop strike.Hope I"m not clear as mud ???regardsThats clear to me!! although slick 50 claim its oils dont stick to clutch plates ??? A 912 with a good quality oil shouldn"t need an additive anyway if they are half as good as Birdy reckons they are :P ;D

Weedys got it, same reason you dont put slick ina scooter, youll have no clutch.Well, I"ve run slick 50 in all my scooters for the last 15 years without any problems, the slick man says it will NOT stick to clutch plates and my experiences verifies that.

Used it first in a scooter back about 95, we were goat mustering and one of the ground crew was using my old Suzuki DR 250 and the thing had done a lot of work and the way it used oil etc, gave the impression it wasnt going to last a lot longer plus the ground crew thrashed the guts out of the scooters so one day there was a bit of a lull in proceedings when I serviced the gyro and changed the oils and cleanrd filters in my old DR. I had bought this slick 50 and handnt been game to use it as I wasnt so sure about all this stuff these products spruke etc but I had a brain wave

Ok then, so is any one running it in a 912?I wanted to do this years ago, but was under the clutch impression thing, damn if you can do it, these damn things will start getting cheap as they wont be selling any replacement motorslooks like we are stuck with the higher prices of them, below is part of an email to the Oz dealer for slick 50."Is it possible to use in a motor that uses the same engine oil to lubricate a gear box with wet clutch packs, without reducing the clutches ability to work correctly?"His very total very lengthy reply was. wait for it. i said wait
"NO!!!"yep that is all he replied with

Hi AllIt is with some interest that I have been watching this thread and others similar to it for some time. I"m just curious to know, do the guys who are using all these wonder additives actually know what your getting for your money? The oil additive industry is a multi billion dollar market and people will tell you wotever you want to hear in order to sell you there so called wonder products. Whilst I don"t doubt for a minute there are probably are some good aftermarket additives and they may work, what we must remember is its human nature to think and sometimes make one self believe something is actually better than it is probably is due to the fact you forked out your own hard earned cash for it.I

Good advice there Darren. One important thing is not to use the cheapest oils.As I Said, I have no scientific proof that Slick 50 works but my practical use of the product most certainly proves to me that it does work. Would I put it in a 912 or 914. Yes.

"[ Regular oil changes are the key to longevity of any type of mechanical equipment, engines, gearboxes, diffs etc."Yoshi, one of my customers had trucks, and swore by toilet paper filters. He took me out to his Ford utility on which he had mounted a TP filter, and showed me the dipstick. Clean as. The oil looked like a new motor, had never been changed, just the roll of toilet paper at intervals.I need clean dry air for my adhesives, and stuck such a filter on my air line. One test is to discharge air onto a mirror. There is no moisture or hazing now. I was told spray painters are using this filter to clean their air.I cannot complain about the cost of filter inserts.graham
