582 weird cylinder pitting with pics.

Hi guys..I was sick of the oil slick all over my motor & prop from the exhaust gaskets so i decided to change em.

If you have a look at the 298 picture and view it full size, you can easily see what I"m talking about.

Looks like a fault in the casting.Is the bore sleeved.

Disco,It looks like the engine had been sitting idle at some point in it"s life and some corrosion has developed

I"ll show my local engine reconditioning bloke today and see what my options are..

Looks more like the engine has sat for a while and corrosion has set in.If this is not the case (sitting for while) the I would say manufacture fault.If can be proven that the latter is the case I would be contacting Rotax.Don"t be afraid to make an issue of it.
