Ok all, what size fuse should I use for,TachoFuel pumpmain power to fuse boxI have a 20 amp from the battery to the main switch. What a lot of people forget is that the fuse or circuit breakers job is to protect the cable from overload. So in order to select the right fuse you first need to select the right cable. First STEP work out your maximum demand (max amps to be drawn) , then select the cable (sized to handle max amps to be drawn) then select the fuse/CB rating based on cable rating.Cheers SamL................

I usually don"t fuse the main feed to switch as such, but use a fusable link such as the Japs. do. A fusable link is only a thinner bit of wire at the beginning. Usually in a sillicon insulation. A rule of thumb is each strand of auto wire fuses at 10 amps at 12v You want the link to melt just before the wire does. Iv"e seen every man and his dog go down due to engine failure caused by too many fuses. A fuse is a weak point in the system. A necessary evil [Like women]
