    Just wondering what

I have to say that having a "Dual Monitoring" function is a great assett. Handy when flying with mates talking on the chat channel and having CTAF on the other channel. When flying cross country you can have Area freq/CTAF freq both monitored at the same time. Icom 760 works pretty good.Jeff.

I havent got one but I have used a Xcomm VHF that is linked to a GME UHF so you can use your avaition headset etc to hook up and you have an intergrated unit that is plug and play plus you can get a bluetooth think to hook up the mobile phone and I pod & whatever elese you want. Not sure of the cost but the way I see it is that if you want VHF & UHF to work properly without tearing your hair out, then go the Xcomm !!

Its probably not going to save you much money by using earmoulds and a normal GME mike.

I`m using an Icom A-24.I use the earmoulds too but I only have a GME UHF. For a mike, I use the mike out of the hand held mike which is put in a hollowed out section of my helmet in front of the mouth. You do need to use a 1 ohm resistor on the mike to get the noise level down. With a A-24, you should be able to use the mike out of any avaition headset. When I say the mike, I mean the pick up bit which is very small.
