  • Subaru 2.5L turbo - info needed

Ok fellow gyro-nauts, need some help with some info. Wife has a 6/08 subaru forrester xt premium (MY09 model). Looks like to motor is stuffed and I wanted to trade it in anyway so is my best option to rebuild or find another motor. Either way where is the best place to find parts/replacement. What is the difference between this motor and the older engine as far as parts go? Any info appreciated. I always told her if she stuffed the car I would pinch the motor but she stuffed the motor and the car is like new still.

Baz,Last year my wife cooked our 2006 XT (200000kms so understandable) and I sourced a factory new 2.5T for $4500 here in WA. Give me a call and I will explain where/who etc.Adrian0427094552

Sorry, I don"t have an engine for you Baz, but would anyone know why subaru place the thermostat, on an ej25, on the cool side (bottom of the engine) and not on the top. I just changed from a subaru radiator (because of a rock) to a ford and it will only now cool with the thermostat removed.

Solved the cold running problem on my ej25 by purchasing two ford thermostat housings and a smaller 82 deg. thermostat. Bolted the two housings together with a gasket and thermo. inside. Installed at the top of the engine. Engine now runs at 85 deg. I found that some universal thermostats don"t open exactly as temp. printed on them. You have to try a few untill you score. ( I"ve never had much luck with engines running too cold. They blow-up too soon!

Max,have you got the cooling rail to thermostate housing by pass hose hooked up or is it blocked off?Dave

All the plumbing is hooked up as in the car. (heater hoses looped and not blocked) It all worked with the first radiator (original subaru) but not the second one. (Ford radiator tipped on it"s side)
