I am up for a new "doenut" coupling between the Rotax box & EA81 (with flywheel). I thought I read once that there are different grades and a certain one is better for the Subaru. Does anyone know if that is the case or are they all the same?Out of interest, what is the likely flying time between the development of these tiniest of cracks I noticed in it yesterday and it flying apart. (not that I intend testing it)Thanks Mark.

Mark if the cracks are around the edge of the moulded in bolt tubes, then just keep an eye on them and see if they get any worse over time if they are going out from the spacers towards the edge or if they are in the middle between the spacers then check them every flight. Do not let them progress to over halfway through. I have seen pilots do up to 150 hours on a cracked donut but I wouldn't recommend that much. Probably depends largely on the smoothness of your engine at the bottom end (idle and taxi).Tim McClure
