  • Slider heads

Slider heads sound, to me, like they could be a good idea. I assume they are a relatively new concept. Is the jury still, out or are they likely to become common over time as people get use to the slightly new way of doing things? Is there a down side to slider heads? Does anyone in Australia have one? I havent seen one in real life, so I would appreciate anyones comments.Daryl Patterson

Hi Darryl, almost a neccessity on a 2 place tractor with a reasonably stiff mast arrangement. If my folding mast with a Raf type "magic" bush is not up to speed on Firebird I will incorporate the slider into the Firebird head. The only diusadvantage that I could see is another 2 wearing DU bushes, no big deal if rotor shake is lessened or almost eliminated. With these hub bar problems of late, I am sure that people will want smoother rotor systems from now on. I am amazed at what shake some people will put up with!!!Aussie Paul. []www.firebirdgyros.com

Thanks Paul. I also wonder if slider heads may tend to stop people putting in the extra effort required to track and balance their blades better (relying on the head to mask the shake). Is there potential for the blades and hub bars shaking more than they should, but the pilot's happy because he is not, or don't they take that much shake out?Daryl Patterson
