Behind the power curve is something that the modern gyro doesnt suffer anywhere near as much as the old gyros that had direct drive props or engines of lower power /small rotors etc but it is possible to get a lightweight[ high power to weight ] in that situation. My first gyro taught me pretty quick what behind the power curve was all about as it flew just outside the curve most of the time so when I got my 2.2 suby I found life was so much easier but even with 100 odd horse, a 76 inch prop and a gearbox, you can still get caught in the right conditions. Fortunately, I have been able to use expereince to get myself out of a pickle but for the low time pilot, watch out !!Its easy to practice, just get down on the deck with the wind blowing pretty well, slow your gyro down a bit, then turn downwind, make sure there are no obbstacles.....NO NO NO, dont try that at ground level, get up to a decent height and do the same thing, watch the altimeter so that you dont cheat, keep the gyro from sinking further by increasing power, note the nose up attitude /low indicated airspeed, lower the nose without descending and get the airspeed up, see how easy it is
