Birdy, I look a bit further ahead than my own personal situation. For the future I want what is best for the whole gyroplane movement.Me to PB.I want the same as you, and bout everyone ere.Only im shootn from a different spot.I recon soon"n gyros are leagley used for mustern, THATS wen others will start to take notice.Rite now the public only see um as eccentric"s toys.Wen we replace much more expencive options out with our little machines, then word WILL get out that these are REAL aircraft, and not just sumthn outa comic books flown by nutters, as the public see um now.

Anatha sugestion, [thatll bring the house down], why not pay L E for wot she"s bin doon for years?Wouldn"t be the worst suggestion that was ever made. Fred, there is absolutely no need for ANYONE to be paid for doing anything. The technology is here and available and this will make the registrars much much easier and only take a minimum amount of time to do.Its time to move ahead, we have no need to do a lot of stuff the old way and why should we as we can see whats it done to Llewella !and if you are going to pay one person, why not pay the whole board and all volunteers as well, that should really do the trick, say a cool $120,000 a year plus super

Fred, there is absolutely no need for ANYONE to be paid for doing anything. Brian,Just responding to the suggestion that 40 hours or 20 hours per week is required to do the job (any volunteer job, for that matter). 20 hours a week of some-ones spare time is not sustainable. Some-one might have the time right now, but if they get crook, an attack of the "tom tits", their mother gets crook etc (you get the idea?) then we are up shitters ditch in a barb wire canoe, again. There has been some suggestion that we have some ground to claw back in the eyes of "the authorities" after this last little implode. If thats the case, then we probably don"t want the records section of the show contained in beer boxes in 37 lounge rooms around the country (metaphorically speaking, of course). However, if what you are implying is that in some way our system can/has been automated to such an extent that it can be done on a professional and sustainable basis by volunteers, then bring it on. The only hint of a position description that I have seen is the post by Llewella. She is suggesting 40 hours and 20 hours. I accept that the job probably doesn"t have to

G"Day Gentlemen,Let me be clear!I am volunteering to take on the unpaid role of the Registrar.Llewella has been doing far to much and some of the responsibilities she has listed are not the responsibility of the Registrar. If the Board select me from a list of volunteers (because I know you are all out there putting you hand up for something...RIGHT!), then I would put it to the Board, that the original requirements of the Registrar be taken on by myself and all the other stuff be delegated to all you other volunteers. As Brian has stated, their has been a great deal of time dedicated to a fully automated registry data base system and the work continues. Past Boards and Paul Campbell (Interim Board Member) got this started sometime ago and it is expected that within a couple of weeks, the first part of this new era in ASRA registrations both members and aircraft, will be up and running.Members themselves on line, will have their own pin number and can update and change info as

Fred, might have looked like I was being half hearted but I was serious.Viva La ASRA MitchNah! Mitch. Not half hearted. "Hand half up" is a totally different scenario. I read that you were volunteering, but not for a 40 hour week on a voluntary basis. ("Half up", eh? Reminds of an old joke about a Cinese laundry. ;D ;D But I digress). I see you have thought about this a bit, and have made some enquiries. I too can see the possibility of a number of people sharing the burden (e.g. "The keeper of the database", "the purveyor of books and other objets de art", etc.). Also, logically, the person who controls the purse (would that be a "pursor"?) would deal with the cash. People unregistered/not members would be a job for ops &/or trg manager. It goes on and on. I"ll give you a ring. Wots a good time?Cheers

G"Day Fred,I have one and a half good hands. The left tricep works only just, least wise I can raise the left arm above my head without it hitting me any more.Mate being a stay at home Dad and using the time from 9pm till 2am as "mytime", anytime from 8am till early hrs of the morning is fine. That "mytime" by the way is dedicated already to gyros and often many hrs in between. So I do have the available time.Jake is 6 and at school fulltime. Danielle starts 2 days next year and fulltime the next. One of the Board Members rang me last night and said that I should register my interest in volunteering for the position by email all current Board members, so I will do that today03 638349080419 254 851rocksfly@gmail.comMitch

Splitting the job up yet again would be a backward step. It has been tried before and the double up with the work is ridiculous!ALL processes are slowed down, with paperwork and cheques being sent all over the countryside. We want a professionally run association, and that to me means a one-stop-shop where all paperwork and most queries can be handled, and when required, people can be advised who they specifically need to talk to.It will be great when you can complete your details on line with the new DB - I have wanted that for years, but that is for the minority membership only. According to the ASRA DB, a maximum of 1/3 of members say they have email, so one would presume they are not on the iinternet either, or computer literate. Also many of you will have to pull your socks up re completing forms, paying correct money, having medicals current, Flight reviews current, supplying annual photos for gyro registration etc, because with the new DB on line, you won"t be able to continue onto the next field until you have completed previous required fields. Hmmmmm, should be interesting! And in an ideal world, a volunteer may be found to put in the hours, but it is time the Registrar+ position was a paid position. My suggestion is to trial a paid position for 12 months, with the person logging their hours - which will be different from mine as some things will be quicker with the new DB.As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

G"Day Llewella,What happens when you have to register a car, trailer or caravan.A data base will generate the postal form. Some will post it back with details (whether correct or not). Fine Registrar inputs data.( Or makes moves to rectify the matter) Sends off computer generated documents, licenses etc. Some folk head to a registry office, where a DIP (data input person) takes the money and adjusts the detail accordingly. Some folks do it on line. Now, many of the "blue rinse set" ( dont get all offended, I am part of this set now) are getting into Computers and becoming liberated by the experience. One of the Reasons the On-line Access Centres in Tassie are so well utilised. The folks who already do it on line will continue to.Some of the new generation of the liberated "Blue rinse set" are stepping out into internet cafe`s and Online Centres. So their numbers will continue to grow. And then of course there will be others who can not or will not (for whatever reason) use the on line DB facility.Fine we aim to please. I do not forsee any problems in parting out some of the work load. Perhaps it is less likely that the incumbent will suffer melt down and certainly there are those that would argue there is an accumulation or a centralisation of power, when all these jobs of yesteryear are brought in under the umbrella of Registrar or one person only.Further, I understand that the board some time back offered to or looked at paying you for said services on the proviso that you step down from the Board. You chose not to step down or rejected the offer of payment. The details I am not sure of but I do have some recollection of it. Please correct me if I am wrong.Yes we want a professionally run ASRA, that does not mean a one stop shop with one person. If it were so we would need to re-name the position to something like the ASRA Customer Service Agent/Official ASRA Spokesperson.Hhhmmmmmmm
