Pete,The forum is public, and since the policy which governs the forum is also public, then this is a public issue. For your posts, all I can assume is that you want a sanitised version put out in the sunlight, and what a narrow point of view that would be.Ted

Gentlemen,This is a world wide forum, and as such, the eyes of the world are apon us, it is time to raise the bar, the majority of us don't want the rest of the world to see us airing our dirty washing publicly, if anyone has a "beef" with the Webmaster then the proper way to go about it is to give courtesy to the Webmaster or board with a one on one phone call or Email, not the Forum, so let's put this to rest and get on with using the forum as it was designed.Pete Barsden

Are your getting the drift Ted. The people who have been around this scene the longest are the people most worthy of respect as they have earned it Ted. They either work now or have contributed a lot in the past. Many are now telling you what you need to digest. This forum is available to us solely to promote gyro information and pleasure. It is paid for from ours annual subs and is directly attached to our Association, and as such the quality of the forum directly reflects on our Association. The US forum, which I know your visit, is available to denegrate others if you wish, but not ours. Please don't take this personally but you are a 'late arriver' and have not contributed to the movement, and you should really be in the 'look and listen' phase of your development, especially when it comes to matters of policy.'Well done' to the many technical questions you have raised over the last few months Ted which many have joined in on and enjoyed and learned from but please don't continue in personal attacks and snipes which only does you discredit.Pete

Pete, There are more people telling me that they are a little concerned with Barry's action than there are telling me to stop. People email me telling me that they too have noticed an uneven handed approach to the editing of posts. Many have said they don't want to raise their hand because they don't like confrontation, but they suport the move to raise the issue.Barry has not been able to show that he has been impartial, and from the lack of support by the board as a whole then I can only assume that they must be thinking of a way to hose down the topic. YOu have the choice not to read the posts if you continue to feel you need to hide your head in the sand. If you are suggesting that I should not contribute to the forum because I'm ( in your words) a late comer, then think again. I prefer to be proactive not reactive. Lets apply the policy in full, without fear or favour. The "Look and Listen" phase is for people who are afraid to articulate a point of view. Let me re assure you that if I ever have a question, or query, or a point of view you will see a post on the forum. There's room for all of us here so feel free to join in, rather than defending a head in the sand position.TedStrongly opposed to the retriction of free speech

Debaters would be better off in some debating or political forum where you can beat their chests all day long. This personal attack on Barry does no good and it appears you intend to create division under the guise of free speech. As said previously there are other legitimate ways to express your opinions than airing it on this fine forum. You are fortunate that I do not have control of this forum at this minute for I would be far tougher on dissidents and you might find your communication channels restricted to blowing smoke signals out your bottom. Everyone stumbles from the acceptable occasionally but intelligent people reognise when they are being helped back into line and pull their heads back in..Better off 'looking and listening' for a while Ted. Pete

Well put , to the two Pete's. Barry has my 100% support , he sure as hell doesnt need to justify himself as an admin. He could easily tell us all to stick it & spend his spare time without the garbage. Good idea , Davo. Go ahead Ted & have a go .

Insinuating "Johny come lateleys" (newcomers to gyro aviation) have no voice on debatable issues in deference to the oh so wise opinions of alleged old timers, appears rather inflamatory and perhaps unhelpfull Pete. This revival of the pre Columbus Flat Earth believers policy is rather dated and a smidgin right wing. However,as a follower of both Australian web sites I feel that our rather small aviation group(Gyros)needs to actively promote ourselves collectively as a unified, responsible group. As another Pete said "the eyes of the world are upon us" including regulatory bodies that ASRA / SAAA and others must liaise with to retain our freedoms. We should be able to creatively resolve what are sometimes minor issues without resorting to personal vitriol or typed profanity (word perfect or hyroglyphic representation).Having just completed the comprehensive CASA mandated AVID and ASIC application for my GA licence, I unfortunately realise that this is the thin edge of the wedge with follow on ramifications for all forms of aviation including Gyros. We have bigger flying issues to be concerned with in the coming months and years that I am sure our unpaid executive is contemplating as we speak and I personally thank them for their collective efforts and achievements thus far. These comments should in no way diminish the issue/s that Ted and others feel passionate about, allthough personal communication between the parties may be a better way of resolution that will do much to strengthen your individual and valued positions within our small community as people of substance and character. The unfortunate anonymity of the web including poorly completed forum profiles allows folks to occasionally forget their manners.See you all at BiggendenMike
