Hey Russell what is "dreaded shake"[:0] Is that severe rotor shake???[?] I have not had rotor shake for years!!!!! Sorry, I just could not resist being cheeky!!!![}] I know, I know, try harder Paul!!!![]Now back to being serious.Russell I have had more success with my lead sleds using the big diameter rotors by having the starter at the back. No sure way, other than to experiment.Aussie Paul.[]www.firebirdgyros.com

Russell: I owned a non flexing mast tandem gyro and the only fix to the 2 per Rev shake, was the use of a "Slider". The solid support provided by the mast, lead to develop a sort of resonance in certains RPM (In Bensen machines absorbed by the flex of the mast) and the consolidation of the natural vibrations of the rotor.Imagine you support a rule in a vise and pinch the tip: It will oscillate. Then support the rule in your hand and it will not oscillate because the soft support. If you need a brief description of the slider, let me knok.I hope you will have a nice 2005 year.regards.Edgardo MaffiaBuenos Aires - Argentina

Graeme, I played a little with a slider head just to prove to myself that it did indeed work.I got Rosco to send me a rotor head U block that was 4 mm shorter. I then sliced in my lathe, a Raf "magic" bush, into 2 mm slices. I put one either end of the U block. This allowed the head to move a little. The improvement was noticeable. By the sound of it, not as good as Chuck Beatys design for Ernie, but it did work enough to tell me that the principle is correct.Doubting Thomas, Aussie Paul. []www.firebirdgyros.com
