I would not fly with that unless I was 100% over where I could land. Sooo many of them failed. The 2 that I had failed before I even flew them, and were among many that were sealed with an acidic silicone that caused the internal electronic devices to fail sometime at an inopportune time wrecking a couple of beautifully constructed Rafs!!!!Yes, please fuel inject her before you get caught. When I went from carby to ECU controlled FI and ignition, I picked up 100 engine rpm, saved 20% fuel and no more carby ice. A rare win win win situation!!! ;DAussie Paul. paulbruty@gmail.com

Paul,I"ve been offered a 25 complete with all injection and electrics straight out of the car for 300 bucks, will the injection gear fit the 22?There is a box on the mast under the motor with 4 screws holding what appears to be an alloy cover, does that sound familiar Cheers...Rafferty"s Rules

The 25 stuff will fit BUT a big job to successfully use the car ECU and wiring harness and the ECU might need re programing for the 22. To successfully use the 25 you will also need a 4 blade prop to handle the extra hp of the 25 and if you have the standard Raf 2.1 redrive ratio it will scream like the proverbial banchie!!!! Been there and done all of that to find what worked.Aussie Paul.

Onya Paul,Thanks for all that info, I think injecting the 22 is the best option at this time, In the meantime I could rebuild the 25 and make a decision on it at a later dateCheers...Rafferty"s RulesYou can pick up a 2.2 EFI with the computer etc for around the $2000 mark and you might even get one cheaper than that if you have the "right" friends

john..........just checking the goings on here.......see your post as well. getting ECU"s......harnesses etc etc ........piece of cake pal. Gimey a call, ive got a spare ECU and harness, ready to just plug in. Plus contact details as to where you source such stuff easily. Pewtars sell for around 600 with harness to suit, couple of hundred $$ to get it certified as good as well..............i"m talking genuine soob stuff, not after market stuff.russ...........
If you aim for nothing, you'll hit it every time

Hi John. Mate love your enthusiasm but you REALLY need to see a TA. The questions that you are asking shows this. What you may think is acceptable aviation standards may have to be redone after inspection so it will be cheaper (and safer) in the long run to have a long chat with someone who can mentor you.The alarm bells started ringing for me with your last post on the control cables. Murray Barker had to do an investigation on a raf last year that went in because one of the swages failed and busted up a pilot.By all means keep the posts coming and the questions because you will get a lot of answers and hard earned experience from this lot.Regards........Chook.
