My concern was not with form drag but with the fate of the poor b _d who got a length of pipe (?), or was it rope or some such wrapped around his mast when it came loose, got tangled in the rotor and subsequently bound up his controls. With a single rod, the effects would be much less of a problem.As for redundancy ... don't think for a moment that the present dual rod system most commonly used is doubly redundant. If one rod becomes disconnected then ALL stick inputs become, in any direction, roll inputs, not to mention where the flapping control rod ends up.RonAvoid strong drink! Ron,You have just used one of the "Biggest" words in the English language......................."IF"............... .The safest way of making a correct safety judgement is to look at the "history of safe operation" of the tried and proven system that was used in the early days, and is still in use today, it is a very simple time proven safety system, all the best,Pete Barsden
