so, if it doesn"t have one, make a "H" pattern manifold for the t/b"s to sit on, the larger the link pipe, the better. Why would it have more than one throttle body? My EA81T is stock and just has one throttle body? We are more interested in torque than out and out Hp, what suits a rally car is really of no value to us?Running out of fuel flow when powering is a great way to burn holes in pistons?

Murray,There are 2 carbs, 1 Turbo. The turbo is a T3 as per first post in this topic. The carbs are Weber ICH34 single throat downdraft. It used to have a weber DGV3228 dual throat on it that went mouldy. Initially I was going to replace it but the ICH units are better value and were easy to fit. I had it going quite well with just carbs & no turbo, the turbo has just been layered over them with a new inlet & exhaust manifold to feed the turbo. In configuration it isn"t too different to a Rotax 914.I believe Browny"s has 2 throttle bodies - 1 per head at the head - see the pics.

Sorry about the pic quality, they are 30 yr old pics, that I copied to my iPad via its camera. This engine I turbo"d near on 30 plus yrs ago. Was the first soob turbo"d gyro in them days. ( around 1982 ish )You must......drop compression ratio, to around 7, you must limit boost to around 10 lbs max.

Chook ol mate.......your carby guy is tawkin through his ar"e. My very first gyro ( 1973 ish ) had a 90hp Mc Cullock hanging on the back, that mongrel thing would backfire 26 times trying to get it fired up, but when she did, Christ it had some grunt. So your mates advice re them foam filters I"ve proven wrong.Hot, or cold, that damn thing was a dog to get fired up. Them days all engines were prop started, so getting the odd wack from the prop, was something you learnt real quick to be aware of.In the end I got the shytes with the McCullock, pulled the engine off, and converted it to a 2 seat glider gyro. Many a guy got hrs up on the glider for some yrs. Then I bought a " Buffier " kit, and bolted on this soob engine which I quickly turbo"d. If you look closely at the carby mounting, it sits on a hot box, the lower half of that box has engine water circulating through it ( box is 2 separate sections ) the lower section just warmed the ingoing fuels in the top section, ol mate that designed it said something about it gave better performances...??. Anyway it sure performed. This was the gyro I island hopped across to PNG, and back again ( around 1980 ish ) ...that"s a tale for another day. (les Edgerton ( recently departed ) and wife Pat, had pics and an article of that trip, I"ve been meaning to get copies of that stuff......one day.

4They don"t run on fumes, ol mate radioed me...Russ the noise has stopped...he missed a clearing by 30 metres, we put down half a mile away on a gravel track, and walked back. Checked ol mate, left water then took me pax to a stn, dropped her, returned, picked up ol mate, took him to stn, then we organised land cruise to throw wreck into etc etc.Memories......love em

Tried to get me to do a lap or 2 off water.....I said p!ss off....I can"t swim( getting it to step up on the water, then control the beast to liftoff was not for the faint hearted )
