No worries Nick, I cant vouch for them myself, but it seems about right.... others might be able to confirm or correct..... I think a few people have issues because they use all the thin synthetic oils in the older engines.... I would just recommend the best quality mineral oil personally.... putting in the latest, hi tech oils is just a waste of money and can do more damage than good to older engines.... they were designed around mineral oil, I suggest use it. This comment is not aimed at anyone, just an observation from looking at various forums while searching this topic

Well, Mine was running rough... left bank not running.- eventually worked out sparkers not properly gapped, no idea why - made them 1.0 mm and corrected problem. How"s your sparks browny?

thanks browny, I haven"t heard that one before. [with out stealing your love of turbo"s post ] the reason my clearances are now out is from me adjusting them and not getting a consistant setting is I have sticking valves. own fault I know. any way my question eventually is , is there a spanner in a can to fix my problem. any advice from guru"s would be extremely appreciated.

Just on the topic of spark plugs and misses.... several times on different vehicles I have had intermittent (and some not so intermittent) and it has turned out to be the nipple on the spark plug loose.... After tightening with pliers and snapping the aluminium core out of the plug..... I have decided just to use NGK or be sure that the nipple is moulded on the tip of the plug, not screwed on like the old style ones. I know various motorcycles and outboards, chainsaws and mowers used to need to screw off the nipple and lock onto the thread, but when these nipples need to stay on permanently, having them able to be unscrewed always seems to do so, resulting in weird irregular missing.... so just a thought, check they are tight (but don"t snap them off)

I changed my plugs to the bosch F-4 type with 4 earth electrodes and a fine centre pin. Certainly no trouble starting it :-)I"m wondering Murray if locktite on your nipples will stop them coming unscrewed?

I just recommend when buying plugs, whatever brand, open one and see if the nipple is screw on/screw off or fixed.... and choose fixed

Yeah Russ, but older sparkplugs had copper cores, I tried nipping up the nipple with pliers and snapped one off.... seems the new ones have aluminium cores.... this is something to be aware of. My point is I have been caught out with an engine miss and found it to be the nipple loose....rather than try to tighten them or whatever, it is easy just to get sparkplugs that the nipples are built on.... pretty simple really.. find a brand of plug you like and always ask for them

I certainly am pretty good with nipples.... I like to keep abreast of any issues, so I don"t end up looking like a boob

Just as well we"re not talking about test tickles and making dicks of ourselves...Added a console fuel indicator - clear tube on the outside of the instrument panel - anyone see a problem with this? & I have avoided the electrics.

The ant should have been easy to catch Nick, they should have been running around and falling over in circles.... considering they were dizzy ants?
