I was using a "Mr Funnel" and a plastic jerry can when both ignited. I began re-fueling by resting the full jerry can on the lip of the funnel, about half way through I raised the jerry can to check the level in the funnel while continuing to pour. This is when ignition occurred. The machine was not running, all power sources were off, Have tested all wiring and there was no shorts, was wearing jeans and cotton work shirt.

Sorry.......forgot..........if you use a strap, make it real short ( mounted real close to the ground ) long ones at certain air speeds................vibrate, and can transmit into your gyro.........you think your machine is about to fall apart.Better way..........mount length of flexy wire underside somewhere, alongside wheel seems real good ( inside )cheers...........
If you aim for nothing, you'll hit it every time

You can get static electricity using a steel container too so its always wise to keep the pouring container grounded to the funnel till the low stops.

When I bought my rotary petrol pump it came standard with 1" hose, the same as other pumpswe use around the place. Almost the exact setup I have on a diesel pump, (and before my static incident)and while filling the loader at night the static could be seen jumping near 2" to objects near the hose. The faster you pumped, the more static. The point being, with so much potiental with static electricty - why doesn"t the anti-static hose with the enclosed wire become a standard product with petrol pumps? It"s not as if I bought a cheap pump!!
