easter is quite warm here and a few locals camp at these holes in the flinders for the long week-end every year. i would rather see all the gyro's at the nat gyro fly inn but i can't afford it this year. hopefully next year though.could even be somewhere a bit warmer/closer, so i cant wait. if russle does fly to cooma will he get a trophy?

It's quite a few years since I was in Cooma at Easter, but I don't recall it being particularly cold, mind you I wasn't flying.Good motorcycle gear, particularly boots seems to be the go on naked machines. There is a trophy for whoever has flown the greatest distance.OK I'll be a pain and point out that while rum etc make you feel warm it actually increases the risk of hypothermia.[xx(]John EvansThink logically and do things well, think laterally and do things better.

quote:Originally posted by JackFirewood is scarce in the area, so we are getting a load in to define a communal fire, to sit on, and of course, to burn.JumpingJackFlashThat is good news Jack. I am sure that there are many that would appreciate that. Also you mentioned that there maybe BBQ facilities. I am sure that many would be happy to cook most of there own meals on site if the facilities are available, or partake of the "hot stomach fillers" that you generously proposed.I do not think too many would be concerned if the official function was held in the airport terminal lounge. What do others think?Tim McClure

No worries, Gavin. The airport terminal is public property and is open to the public anyway. Just step right up and register on arrival, and you will have access to all facilities. ASRA requires everyone on the site to sign a waiver anyway, and you can understand that if someone is wandering around our club facilities and visitor's equipment, we would like to know who you are. We might even present you with a yellow coat and a clip board .....We hope this will be a fun weekend. You will lose points for being serious!JumpingJackFlash

Usually, at these events, some people love taking on a particular task and do it well year after year. Please let us know so we don't press gang the wrong person.Warning, Attention, Danger: the airport is at 3106ft elevation. This affects the performance of most machines. Snowy Mountains Airport is a Regional Airport. It will still be an active airport. We have applied to have it downgraded to a CTAF for the event. Check NOTAMs. Undisciplined flying will not be tolerated as it will affect us all. No dogs may be brought onto the airport and please ask us about unleashing dogs in the camping area - this is sheep country.Fuel: Premium unleaded petrol and Avgas will be available, no additives or oil.Photography: Our official photographer will be producing a CD of the event. Driving: The main contribution to safety is in planning your trip. Avoid driving for long hours into the night.
