"There you go John! Woz answered your doubts, there was never any intention of any form of sabotage, I don't know how you jumped to that conclusion. The offer was to Bail out The ASRA. in case things went wrong. So you can untie the knots in your knickers."Er, Jeff what's this about 'jumping to a conclusion'? The question was simply posed as to what motivation you had for this stuff.Cooma did not need bailing out. The rubbish put out by Chicken Little, yourself and the the Northern Chook [? too many avacardos?] was not helpful on a forum, it would have been more constructive to have asked by e-mail. OK, 24hrs has elapsed and no answer...Yep it say's volumes.I have gone back through these Cooma postings, and at no time was there a single personalised ,childish comment directed to an individual or ASRA .But we are presented with this chicken little sh.t at the closing hour. That is we, some ASRA members, who were responding to concerns posted on this forum. The attitude of yours and others that we, the members are on a need to know basis, SUCKS, to put it mildly, if you had come out and said ....yes we have a hitch, this is what it is, and this is what we are doing to resolve it, would have helped immensly to settle the concerns. But no , you shut up shop. [!] Me a member way up here, thousands of km from the vast majority of you guys, is getting the feeling that what you have down there a festering ilwind and distrust between personalities, inuendoes of backroom deals, and it goes on and on. It's all a recipe for disaster. I can recall back in the 80s it bloody near split the organisation. It was no wonder so many pilots just melted away and did their own thing. There has been concerted efforts to get them all back in recent times and I think it was beginning to work, but keep this up and they will be saying....nothing has changed.Honesty...openness...inclusiveness, a guarantee for success[^]Don't anybody take this as personal....it's just my view of proceedings......safe flying....RussRDC

Fascinating to see what happens when I haven't been on the Forum for a few days!!!Not only do I get accused of jumping to conclusions when I ask a question, but I also have to clarify whether I am posting as an individual, or as a Board Member when it should be obvious from the context. For the record let me state that I am posting as an individual. My understanding of ASRA's historical role in the Nationals is that it is limited to selecting what appears to be the most suitable proposition that is put to the Board before the deadline, and in sponsoring the trophies. ASRA also provides the Public Risk insurance for the non flying activities.Recently the Board, with the help of an Appointee, was involved in expanding the guidelines for running the event and producing a computer programme to ease the difficulties involved in scoring; I believe a good job has been done.It will be argued that the Board should take a more interventional role, while this does not appear to be have been needed in the past the time for this may have come. While 'Stanru" was able to post on the 9th that everything was GO, historically there have often been last minute hitches bedeviling the organisers. This event may not be an exception, but you can rest assured that everything possible is and will be done, to the point of having Plan B.Now while he consumes prodigous quantities of avacardoes Russell seems to want a blow by blow account of what goes on behind the scenes! Look Russell, if we did that all you would see was very hard working people sweating blood to make things run smoothly; we'd then be accused of grandstanding! We'd also be accused of clogging up the Forum with needless detail.Fair go Russ, stand for election for the Board! Be a Volunteer!John EvansThink logically and do things well, think laterally and do things better.

John....the emcumbered board and others have been doing a grand job, really you have, but you are missing my point.....when it was obvious there was a serious situation re the Cooma thing, we were kept in the dark. I have no doubt, you and others were working your butts off, but we were told nothing by ASRA. Hence all sorts of concerns were being raised by members, hey some of them were about to travel a few thousand km, no arvo drive. Yes I agree with you , that in future ASRA should keep a closer eye on the pre planing, and the requirements to ensure no last minute hitches like this occur again. Keep up your good work....it is appreciated. But please keep us in the loop, it would have stoped all the concerns......RussRDC

They reckon it's not over 'til the Fat Lady sings.Well I don't know anyone who'd be game to call Llewella the Fat Lady, but she spent all day today negotiating [? terrorising] high levels in CASA, eventually extracting a promise from the appropriate official that the last hurdle for the Nationals would be cleared on Friday, I expect she will burst into song when she receives the phone call. It seems some of the problems previously encountered could be blamed on a misunderstanding with the Snowy Mountains Aviators in the early stages of their application for the MBZ to be downgraded to a CTAF for the Nationals. They did everything correctly according to advice they had.Time was said to be running out when an unexpected hurdle was encountered in the form of a 'Safety Review'. It seems that there would be a shortage of staff to carry this out at such a late stage, as many had duties at Avalon Airshow.I am sure all members will greatly appreciate the intervention of the people in CASA, especially Rob Glenn and Andrew Ward, who were able to see the correct priorities.John EvansThink logically and do things well, think laterally and do things better.John EvansThink logically and do things well, think laterally and do things better.

Poor me, sitting upstairs getting 135 letters ready to send to people who have forgotten to pay their membership renewal by the due date, and I receive a phone call from a member telling me John has posted about two people, the fat lady and me! It was a long, tense day, but we won out in the end!! At 3.22 I received THE CALL. Phew! I always had 'faith' that we could win this battle, even though there were a lot of doubting Thomases out there!LlewellaGoing the extra miles puts you miles ahead of your competition.LlewellaGoing the extra miles puts you miles ahead of your competition.

The wonderful men controlling flying machines in Australia have come through as promised! I now have the CASA 'Instrument of Permission' in my hand. The Permission applies to the period commencing Thursday 24th March and ceases to have effect at the end of Monday 28th March, whilst Cooma licensed aerodrome is temporarily designated as a CTAF.Everyone planning to fly must attend all briefings before being allowed to fly, and we have to understand that all other paragraphs in CAO 95.12 still apply to single seat gyroplanes, and all other paragraphs in CAO 95.12.1 still apply to two seat gyroplanes. They wish our group all the best for the safe and enjoyable flight of our gyroplanes.Thank you to the CASA staff who have worked very hard on this Instrument. Under normal circumstances this would not have been possible to achieve in this time-frame. Thank you CASA, especially Rob Glenn, Andrew Ward, Arthur White, John Flannery, Richard MacFarlane, and Bruce Gemmell, and any one else involved.LlewellaGoing the extra miles puts you miles ahead of your competition.
