computer is "tricked up " soob one.that sensor thing is a airflow meter. It"s what the air filter is bolted to. Air is drawn through filter, then through this meter on it"s way into the engine.yes..........i"m going to a "dry" filter, actually using same K&N filter but with no oil sprayed onto it as directed by K&NNew airflow meter via soob is 700+ bucks.........same thing via internet from ozy supplier is 200 bucks, and genuine/new part as well, with 12 mths wty

I saw something in the last week or two on the US forum about not using oil soaked airfilters with MASensors.Aussie Paul.

How do you trick up a soob computer, that trick could maybe be done by someone in the tuning trade but if you mean just attaching a simple circuit to trick it into thinking the car is moving then a new maf sensor might not be the end of your trouble.

i use a wolf computer as well with my 2.2 suby. Aftermarket has some advantages.... particularly at $700 for a MAF sensor. If it makes you feel any better, the MAF sensor on the Patrol 3.0 litre gives a bit of trouble as well but thats from crap quality diesel fuel. I"m led to believe we sell the good stuff and import rubbish. Makes sense doesnt it. :

Don"t see how poor quality diesel which is direct injected in the 3 litre patrol affects the MAF sensor since it is way upstream of any diesel injection but then again, my 3 litre patrol had a MAF sensor fail @ $360 and i think it may have been a bit sooted up cant remember for sure.

Hi Brian,Do you install a idle air control valve and throttle position sensor in the up stream and an O2 sensor on the down stream of your soob setup? My present setup (TP, cam angle and offside O2 tuning with ECU mapping) on EJ18 guzzles a fair bit (Mizer registers 3 to 7 g/hr) and am wandering by further adding MAF, IACV, TP and O2 installation any likelihood to reduce consumption? Any advice? ThksLou

My mizer is set up for litres but at cruise [ 3800 revs] it generally indicates approx 15.5 LPH although in poor air its not uncommon to see around the 17 LPH & loafing around mustering with the tank in its last 20 litres can see approx 13,5 LPH

Soot Disco, at the MAF soot shouldnt be a problem if the fuel is of good quality!!!With the 3.0 litre grenades you need to have a EGT & Turbo boost gauge & keep a good eye on them cause blow ups can be avoided. Also, the oil quality is a major factor. Surprisingly enough, some people get an excellent run out of the

ol mate was telling me it"s not a bad idea to occasionally clean the internals of the MAF thingo with carby cleaner.....so there you go.when the MAF thingo becomes unhappy......no warning, zip.......pewtar then shuts you down. Was also told the MAF is the only sensor that does not show up as a "fault" in the pewtar memory..........so i heard. Can see reasons why some folks convert their EFI soobs to carby engines.........
