How far are you above seelevel? The only thing i ever do after taken a 912 out of the box is drop the carb needles one slot, then bobs ya uncle for a coupla thou. [ usualy drops the burn rate by 2/3 LPH.]And as Bones says, welcome to the real world.

Well u best set it up right might isles at 1200 comfortably, never ceases to amaze me when people blame things for being wrong nd it not set up rightI"m only following instructions....thought that they all might be the same.Well, when someone can set it up properly, then that will be really great by the sounds of it. 1200 is a lot more comfortable than 2000. There will be some 912 drivers around Mildura that should know how to get them set up mickey mouse.I never cease amazing people Bones

Carbs need to be balanced exactly correctlyI don"t know if u will get it that low with a wd prop too light, need more weight like an ivoNd yes to drop the needles takes about 10 mins nd it will make a difference .Ur revs sound good for driving around, I use about 4600 to do about 60 lts if I get better performance due to bigger rotors it was back about that revs too

I havent checked [ measured] the rotors but I reckon they are 27 ft AK"s...with no pitch as they are reving around 350/ 365 and are as smooth as. Pity my AK"s have that shudder in them as they have 2* pitch and I reckon on the 912 I could back revs off to 3600/ 3400 & still motor around as my old girl is happy on 3,800 revs with a lot more weight.I"m looking into old details & she had 26"s so they might be smaller than me thinks.[ will get the tape measure out.]Have you got detailed plan on how to drop the needles plus to be able to know whether the needles are up or down ? ???

I dare say its probably been fiddled with after the first owner sold it as it was perfect when he had it. If i remember correctly the 912S manual recommends an idle approx of 1400 rpm, too low and it will shudder and can do gearbox damage, too high and it will be hard to start. I"ld say idle it where ever its smoothest Would love to see a photo of it, in its current form, Is the tail still the same as in the picture above? If you like i can email the Operating, Install and Maintenance Manuals in PDF format?

Hot its better but I"m not real sure excatly where its smooth as I usually put the brake on & let it idle at 2000 for a minute or two before shutting down. Will do a couple of new photos although I think you will find it fairly original except for a full Rosco control system[ except for that tall stick
