              Yes I am a writer. At present I compile tehnical manuals and have not had any aviation articles that have been published in recent times. Why do you ask?flyinhi

                    Have to agree with mastic. I have never heard of an engine having to run for 30 minutes without oil to gain certification.Tim McClure

                      • I can't at this stage quote you a reference, but I understand the 30 minutes without oil is really a certification requirement. I don't think the engine would be in very good shape afterwards!I'll see if I can find anything.John EvansThink logically and do things well, think laterally and do things better.

                        • You may be supprised just how long an engine will go without oil, even those rice burners, without much dammage.[solong as it started out with good quality oil].I'v had some unfortunate experiences[staff related] that left me wund'n why I put oil inti at all.[mebe it just a money mak'n scam by the oil Companys.]Ignorance is bliss............but only till you realise you were.Ingratitude stinks.......be generous carefully.

                          • Can't remember the product, but 6 or 7 yrs ago, a guy was promoting an oil addative. Added it to the normal engine oil, ran engine for about 30 mins, drained all the oil, and drove the car to Alice.....thats 1500km, with an empty sump.......phewIt was a validated test.Russ....A1014 NT....gods country
