hehehe Good point birdy .... I'll find one somewhere ..... but I have to wonder ...if their as nasty as you guys say they are what the heck am I doing trying to fly one in the first place ? I had the understanding that gyros were the safest form of Ultralights out there (not includeing the parasail ) is this in error ?Bob...." They are the safest of ALL aircraft.Did you fall over the very first time you started walk'n??..............well, the only difference with fly'n is, you may only get to 'fall over' once.Ignorance is bliss............but only till you realise you were. You can always get the answer you want, if you ask enough experts.

Aurgh ! As of this date no instructors anywhere near here ... 300+ mile Radious and still looking !this is totally rediculas ! Everyone says " Oh you can't fly it without instructions! " but there are no instructors to be found ... 'scuse me if i sound a bit BITTER ! Before the FAA's latest Screw-up and law changing there were 4 or 5 instructors within an hours drive !..... this kind of help that the FAA is giving we don't need ! I realise I live in the "back of beyond " but geeeez !Bob.." Momm'a alwayse told me , Son the impossable is only a little bit Harder... and ya know I do believe She was RIGHT ! "

quote:Originally posted by Bob K.Before the FAA's latest Screw-up and law changing there were 4 or 5 instructors within an hours drive !..... they're the fellas you want ... as I understand it you don't need a licence in yank ... get one of these fellas to pass on what you need to know! They obviously dont need to be qualified instructors as we need to have - just some one who can fly with you in his twin! This wouldn't be breaking any US law would it ?Safe Flying ... ding Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment

Yup ! your right .... just a ride in a twin and a few hours of chattin would help a'bunch ...sept... to fly a 2 place Gyro here you need a pilots liscnses.... to teach you gott'a be at least a BFI...... as i understand it !..... Going to OZ would be Great ! but the $2000.00 air fair to get there is a might bit out'a reach fer me !..... who said air fair was cheep anyway ? dey must have money comeing out'a their ears ! HAHAHHAHA !any hoo.... In the fine print of the newer FAA laws here in the states they stated something to the effect that the existing 2place gyros used for training purposes had to be REPLACED by one passing the FAA Regs.... I suppose thats why instructors are so very hard to find now.... the goverment took away their training vehicial ! I guess !!!!!! its something weird like that ....I betcha there is only one or two 2 place gyros that would pass their new Regs for training purposes.... and they probly got a back order into 2020 !!!!!! its funny though, if ya think about it.... I want to learn how to fly an ULTRALIGHT Gyro.... not some 1500lb 2 place thing !and i can't even find one of those ! HEHEHEHEHHE !maybe I'll grab my back pack... fill it full of canned goods and build a sail board and sail to OZ and see if i can find a someone down there..... ! hehehehehehe I dunno though , the thought of going to Oz kind'a scares me, any place where the water curculates the wrong way when ya flush the torlet , just ain't RIGHT ! hehehehehcatch ya later !Bob......" Firstly, what would it cost to replace your life ???Secondly, what would it cost to replace your machine ???Thirdly, what better place to spend a month or two or three or four ??? Actually I don't think there's any better place than Oz full stop!Nah, on second thoughts you'd probably like it that much here you'd wanta stay. You better keep lookin for an instructor in the US ...BTW where abouts are you ?? Did I hear you say California ?? that's almost as good as aus so you've had a bit of a taste ...Safe Flying ... ding Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment

Well I have lowered the Keel behind the mast by 4"...Turned the Gearbox arround like it originally was .lowered the engine by 3/4" and the thrust line by at least 3 3/4"moved the tail feathers back as far as i can get them ... 4' 6" from what used to be the COMspent all day building a new front wheel assembly . I also moved the rear mains foward about 3 "or 4 " so it will rotate back to the tail wheel on take off .Removed about 25lbs of steel and replaced it with Alum . the thing is still built like a "Brick Outhouse" so I am quite happy !I also added vertical struts to the rear main landing gear , cushoned the ends with Rubber is all, so no real travle in them ! .... Looks like the tail wheel will be about 12" from the ground however.... not the recomended 5 or 6" !front frame where my feet go is about 15" off the ground ....or so .... quite a long way up .... or sure feels like it ! .... Soon as I get the new front fork on her and the bigger nose wheel I can start working on the nose down attitude and do the ballance test ..... She is a totally diferent machine now ! ..... time will tell how it works ! C ya ! Bob....."
