Update......At this stage we have 10 gyros from the mainland. We have 3 gyros from Tassie. There are ELA, Magni, Newo, Patroney two place craft.2 Monarchs (one with GFLG) both feature high torque pre-rotators ( MLS ).1 SportCopter with pod....looking forward to seeing this up close. I took pics of a SportCopter open frame gyro at Mentone some years ago and was impressed with the quality of the parts. The owner is about to undergo block training with Ian Morecomb CFI.Several homebuilt singles and perhaps a MTO3 not yet confrimed. The airstrip is being used regularly now and just yesterday I put another 3 hours on my Monarch. Presently we have just over 300 meters useable strip with clear paddocks at each end.The tree at the northern end of the strip is being removed and we are seeking approval from the adjacent property owner to remove a very large gum tree at the southern approach to the strip. This is being done for the fixed wingers approach on final, as it does not really affect the gyroplane approach. Expectation is form a flightline of 15 or more gyros now, with possibility of 40 ASRA Members/Partners.ALL ROOMS AT THE LODGE ARE BOOKED OUT.CAMPING SPACE IS STILL AVAILABLE ON SITE.Cheers,Mitch.

UpDate.......Eugene Reid is back as Pres of the RAA and is situated across the river from me at GeorgeTown, Freedom Flights. Spoke with him and he is making comment in his editorial Feb"s issue of the RAA Mag. Then in the March issue we have an article and pics of the upcomming ASRA OZ Nats in Tassie.March edition of the Pacific Flyer should have same article and may run different pics. Both RAA and Pacific Flyer were trying to include us in the events calendar sections of their February issues. The word is getting around Tassie pretty quickly that there will be gyros flying about come Easter. Folk I dont know are now calling for further info.Last discussions I had with the proud owner/builder of a SportCopter, he is attending with gyro in tow.Mitch.

Confirmation "Campers" will get to have a shower and that I can go ahead and book more into the camping area at the Holiday Lodge for the ASRA Nationals. We have the same number as last post and the possibility of 15 gyros on the flight line is looking good.I continue to operate from the slashed strip, which Eric says is 420 meters, it feels more like 350 m and I confess I am using the last 150 meters or so.We have 9 weeks to work it up some more but it is dry and unusually hot here and there is no grass growing right now. Not a good time to be, harrowing and smduge/rolling.So it is not the very long 2100 feet of paddock as earlier reported, closer to a little over 1200 feet.

Its all sounding good Mitch. We will see you there ! Looks like the gyro is staying home though. :"(350 meters is enough room , particularly if the departure is clear of obstacles though those flying will have to give those who have no or limited pre rotating time to get rotors up, might take a lap or two in nil wind

Update....Rob Patroney and Leanne his wife are still attending the Nationals. Good News!Unfortunately Rob and Leanne have been to busy manfacturing rotorblades and propellors, so he will not be bringing his two place craft.Mitch.

Attended Ceanbourne Airfield today to see Geoff Blackberry solo the yellow and blue Viagra Gyrop he bought out of Darwin. The bloke could not have been happier, after landing for the second time (he greased it in) he was seen to be shaking his head and yelling..." Nah F*#*##* good! Get rid of it!" All in jest of course. He loves it and how much better it performs thyan his old heavy subby.Whilst there I met with a Ultralight CFI named Andrew, who will come and join us at the Nationals. Andrew had already heard the buzz on the Nats.Talking of the Ultralights, Eugene gave a little blurb in his Presidents Report in the RAA Magizine. The article features in the next edition.

Another Update......We have 13 gyros on the flight line.3 from Tassie10 from the Mainland. There are 19 people staying in the camping ground area, which is now being located closer to the central facilities building containing the shower. The new location gives a better view of the flight line also.Another 14 or so persons staying inhouse.Possible another 4-10 people staying off site. Please Note. _There is no powered sites. We may be able to provide some power from on site large portable generators but this is not a given.Look at the pic attached to note the new closer location of the camping area, which is now ideally located to maximise the view and access to the Holiday Lodge Central Facilities Building (Showers and Meals)A cook has been employed for the duration of the event. BBQ Breakfast Lunch and Dinner.Sunday Night Presentation fine dinning meal cost will be kept to a resonable amount.Thursday ASRA Board meeting luncheon provided for those members attending at ASRA"s cost.............................................. .................................So we have meals and shower and portaloo facilities for all. Please contact me if you require any further information.Mitch.
