Sonny,One of those chooks was rampaging in the back yard, you know the ones we were talking about a couple of weeks ago..Anyway, I forgot to put the 'no step' sign on the keel, those chooks are dumb, the ******* stepped right on it, being all of 10' tall and weighing 400 lb, the tail just plain fell off., god damn! How you see it is how I found it.Nick.

Sorry to say, the neighbour shot the ******* after it killed their dog and put a hole in their cubby house roof, I was cheering all the way 'cause I'd run out of razor points with my bow. Looks like we're having a hungi tonight, chook for the next week coming!! Yee haa!Anyway, have a gecko at this site:http://www.buildex.com.au/products/p...t.asp?catID=1I wouldn't use them on a gyro, just more b.s. I've bolted the plate together with 1/4 unf grade 5 bolts and nylocks. The tek screws are only there to hold things together while you're cutting and drilling plate.Cheers,Nick.

Sonny,Stress raisers is one issue, the holes they cut can be fairly rough, plus the fact they are self tapping, and the damage that can cause. They are also a smaller diameter, so the bearing pressure or surface area that they offer is less than a 1/4 bolt, so things are more likely to tear out around them, I also found that they strip the alloy easily, ie, the thread in the alloy is stripped, no doubt with the vibration that we get on our machines, something would joggle loose and fall out in a hurry. They are tough, but they can snap easily, so they are brittle, this is not a desirable quality.Paint work - no, I'll leave it now, !$#%$#%^-woz's graffiti covers all the ****-ups nicely. The thing about paint is that it tends to cover over cracks, not a good idea. My preference is to the raw alloy look, if not that then anodised, but seeing as I don't have enough hours up to say I won't bend it, I'll leave it rough for another 50 hours, then I might be able to say I'm good enough to fly around in a tarted up machine.I forgot to mention why the chook was in the back yard, it chased one of those big red grass hoppers down there, the grass hopper bolted over the fence where the next door neighbours dog chased it, the chook seeing it had a bit of competition for the grass hopper stomped on the dog, then my neighbour really got pissed with the chook and shot it. You'll be pleased to know the grass hopper got away. And yes, I did run in the last federal election - see www.cecaust.com.au, I know there's 170 people here that like me!Cheers,Nick.
