Bob, my gyro is the Dragonfly, and yes the H.S on it is all metal, and yes it is a "T" tail, and yes it is mounted below the prop hub.The sheet used was about half mil, and 1 mil for the rudder as it has a very basic spar.Regards Sam.

DAJ,you've got to go in pretty close to Mt Walsh to see the range but we did have the fellow that runs it over one day during a black powder shoot, asking us not to fly over when they're shooting !! I hadn't seen where it was but some one else flew over which gave the shooters some concern.I didn't take much convincing, and besides I don't like flying up close around hills or mountains because of the unpredictable wind shifts etc ...Safe Flying ... ding Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment

Thanks Sami ! Actually , I think that tail is the most reasonable i have seen Sami ! Hope you don't mind if i copy it ! .....well to a certain extent anyway !.... I thought of a great name for my Gyro "Persistance" Good name for a tough o'l girl ! I already read how ya bent that stuff..... good trick ! I'll be sure to use that ! heheheheas of now my gyro is ready to go..... got the ballance test done and found the COG.... almost exactly 1" back from where it was is all it moved ! I figure i have a 6.5" thrustline offset now ..... far cry from the 14" I started with ! .... Thanks for the help Maties ! I'll let ya know how the taxie test goes ! C ya !Bob....." Now if I still had my 50cal Halkins Black powder rifle that would be fun ! .... its a truly amazing gun ! ....but I do have a Balista I made up.... will fling an arrow the size of a broom handle through 1-1/2" flooring plywood ! takes a while to load though ... hehehehehehehe them car springs are tough ! hehehehe...... I was playing with my design of a new tail last night and for some reason I keep complicateing the simple idea.... anyway ... still workin on it anyway ! ....you all stay out'a truble if ya can ! eh ?C ya !Bob......" Howdy fellers ! Welp Dad and I took the gyro out yesterday and it preformed quite well ! no un expected things just did what she is supposed to do !I'm quite happy ! I guess Aussie Paul knows what he's talkin about ! the gyro did get into the air 2 times on short "crow-Hops " thats all the further I let her go .... O'l Persistence may be ready for flight but I'm not yet ! hehehehehe ! Being at this High altitude 4500ft pluss , I desided to increase the pitch to 4 degrees on the rotor blades ... which seamed to work great ! especially when you consider I only pushed the Rotex to arround 3500 to 3800 RPM ! ... although the rotors did slow down extreamily fast .... I gott'a keep a close eye on their speed ! ....All in all She looks like a Keeper ! ground stability was Fantastic , steering was not a problem at all ...only thing that bothers me was her reluctance to rotate back to the tail wheel... infact one hop was done without her tilting back at all she just rose into the air ! which may be good OR bad.... it doesn't give me the opertunity to steer with the rudder, but sure is stable on the ground that way ! .....now about a gillion more practice runs and I might be able to do something else ! heheheC ya !Bob...." Howdy Fellers !Sense the last post I have taken the gyro out a few times and have been trying to ballance the gyro on the mains.... so far not much luck therethe next trip out from my last post was a good day's work ! although the wind was quite calm and I never did get a crow hop out of the gyro.... looks like the only way I'll get this gyro off the ground up here at this altitude is wait for a good head wind ! hehehehehhe Ballanceing on the mains is alot harder than I thought it'ed be ... I got her to stay up about 10 to 15 seconds once but that was the longest !seams there is a nack to it that I am lacking .... ballanceing between the thrust and the pull of the rotor is a very slippery place... not like wheeling on a motorcycle where you have the engine torque to fall against .... ( I wheelied my motorcycle for a mile once just to prove I could do it ... but that was when I was a Kid many many moons ago ! some how this seams just as fool-harty but if it needs to be done then I will do it ! ) Also when the nose wheel was comeing down from being on the tail wheel there was a slight jurk to the left , so sense then I have done some adjustment to the steering and rudder to correct it ... hopefully it won't jurk to the left now ..... we'll see next trip out ......... Take care youz guys stay out'a truble ! C ya !Bob....." Momm'a alwayse told me , Son the impossable is only a little bit Harder... and ya know I do believe She was RIGHT ! "

Today I added to new tail wheel to the o'l gyro ! its taller so the travle the nose wheel does will be alot less some where in the airea of 6 to 7 inches now ... should make it alot easier on me I hope ! ... Youz fellers behave yourselves ! and don't be scratching up them gyros ! C ya !Bob...." Me 4' Hub bar is almost done ... that will add the Rotor diam I need ... I stripped everything off the gyro that isn't esential to flight except the altemiter and roll bar on the seat.... the later I'll remove when I get more used to it ... its still a great thing to haing on to when she starts bounceing arround !..... I am also repairing some cracks that devoliped in the rotor blades on the last trip out ... the airea where it cracked was paper thin... unknown to me , I almost sanded through it trying to smothe things up ! ... thats the risks of makeing it purdy too I guess ! hehehehehe ! at least wid me doing it ! so its UGLY time !I'll glass up the blade and see if''in I can get the blades all set up on the new hub bar some time this week ..... it will be interesting to see the results in action of all the changes i have done over the last month or so ....too many to count ....again ! but it should help alot !.....time will tell I guess !C ya !Bob....."
