I didnt realize that the gearbox /motor shared the same oil bones so I would stay with what Rotax recommends!!Slick 50 in motor bikes[ I have treated 250's and one 600 with slick 50 and have no found any clutch slippage]For what its worth, I have tried synthetic oil in the gyro and I wasnt happy with the results plus I found out the racing [V8 supercars ] do not use synthetic so that fixed that ! I use part synthetic and found it the best value.BrianPooncarie NSW

I decided to conduct a test re synthetic oil. Synthetic is not so good if the egine is only used periodically, as the moisture that is attracted by the synthetic oils will rust internal engine parts. Now, as I used my trainer almost daily and the engine was well and truly run in I decided to conduct the tests. With mineral oil I would chnge the oil at 25hours, and the oil pressure would be a good 5 psi down after the 25 hours.Changing to synthetic there was no loss in oil pressure after 50 hours when I changed the syntheticoil. This is just my own personal experience using an engine that hardly ever got cold, not really, but I was doing 350 hours per year at that time.Sometime, these reports have to be taken in the context of how they are used.Aussie Paul.[]www.firebirdgyros.com

Just to throw the cat amongst the pidgeons, about 10 years back I owned a gyro with a 532 rotax and just to look after it I gave the motor the 2 stroke Slick 50 treatment. Next time I flew it was on a cross country trip to Phillip Island, (about 3 hours away). Got about an hour into the trip when I was brought down with a big-end failure. Still got a couple more applications of 2 stroke treatement somewhere in the shed if anyone is interested in trying it.PeteBairnsdale,Vic.

Hi Peter I have slick 50'd the mower with two stroke treatment and the stepson ran 5 litres of straight ulp through it in a day and it has run for about eight years since with no problems what soever And in the 308 holden motor I took longer to cool it down than the trip to the hospital and they said (chev offroad machine engines) it had never been hot or abused [^]when torn down to have a carburettor scew removed. Hope this helps Mark MarkAdelaide River N.T.
